OK, now the game is really making me LOL on the unrealism of the mahjong depicted.

Saki portable for PSP (I believe). And there's a setting -- that allows the characters to play according to their "strengths" (as simulated in the manga/anime). For example, Saki's knack to get a bunch of kans all the freakin' time.

So, hell, I'm tempted to want the game - despite not owning a PSP. XD

I already got the game. Already played through the main story and done about half the stuff in there. Comes back to it once in awhile.

People can't edit the title of their own threads; it requires staff intervention. But anyway, I edited it now.

Here I am... watching that again... for the 25th plus time...

I had placed 5th at an anime convention mahjong competition. I have to admit feeling somewhat down from that. Plus, I could have pulled both rinshan and chankan on two separate hands. As well as 2 yakuman hands - also separately.

So, watching the series again... I'm giggling.

Checking the Wiki article - and the info. is sourced -- Spring season next year. Oh gosh, that right on top of Anime Central -- for more mahjong play.

I for one welcome the return of Super Moe Moe Mahjong. The first season was a good blend/balance of mahjong and a pretty likeable and cute cast.

I can honestly say I am still not sure about the rules of mahjong, but I have to agree with you it was a perfect blend of mahjong and a wonderful cast.

Draw tiles, make a certain pattern to win. It's kind the same thing like domino only a lot harder. Same drop and picking stuff. Only the tiles are a lot more complicated and the patterns are stupidly complicated; the really fancy ones you see in Saki anyway.

It's more like rummy than dominoes, but with the added complication that it's not enough to get the required number of sets and runs, you also have to fulfill some special condition, like having a set of all aces, or all runs starting with the same number. The tiles aren't that much more complicated than Western playing cards, there are just more of them, particularly the equivalents of face cards.

I found the game play easier to follow in the manga since I could pause and read the characters' commentary on the game and then examine the hands until I understood what they were getting at, whereas in the anime it flew by so fast I might as well've been watching Yu-gi-oh.
