ANN: AIC makes Justeen Super Robot Anime Set In Future

AIC, the anime studio known for Tenchi Muyo!, El Hazard, Strike Witches 2, Oreimo, and other titles, is producing a super robot anime titled Justeen. The story is set in the future when a new threat attacks humans just as they are expanding their presence into space. Now, an enigmatic entity from 17 years ago has been set free, and the name of the entity is Justeen.

The Japanese entertainment and sound production company Studio Noix is holding auditions for the protagonist, Taiga Amakake. Taiga is a 16-year-old first-year high school student who feel pressure from being compared to Seiga, his older brother with a promising future. Candidates, regardless of professional/amateur status, age, or gender, can apply, and the deadline is October 18.
Talk about meta... for those who don't remember, Justeen is the title of that in-show anime that sometimes appears on screens in OreImo, much like Kujibiki Unbalance (Genshiken) and Gekiganger 3 (Nadiesco)

Given that the same staff are working on it of course, and how awesome the animation for that anime was in OreImo, I'm actually looking forward to this just for being totally meta.

Spoiler for Just to remind the OreImo watchers what Justeen is:

Well, they already have a bunch of epic scenes animated. Now they just have to make a Meruru anime.

The title sounds like a 4kids production. No joke.

AIC making a mecha series sounds like a really really bad idea. Hopefully they'll consult someone like Sunrise before going through with this.

We make no claims on the Bieb. As far as I'm concerned he belongs to the American music industry now.

Been a while since I've seen a show within a show made real. That it's a super robot show means I'm even more in than when I was in.

I said "a while". I'm aware it's happened before. It's just been a few years is all.
