On a somewhat related matter to Galactus:

Isn' Unicron meant to be Galactus' little brother or something:?

Kinda makes sense as:

1) Marvel wrote and owned the rights to Transformers back in the 1980's.
2) Both are world-eating Gods.
3) Both have a nasty tendency to change people into "Hearlds" to do their bidding (Silver Surfer and Galvatron, respectively.

In the (highly unlikely) case that Disney buys Hasbro one day, hands up who else wants to see an Avengers X Transformers live action crossover?

(Hey, it HAS been done in 1980's Marvel Comic Books!! )

It's been done more recently than that in comics. And if they do it in movies, I'm going to insist on some kind of caption system to identify the Transformers whenever they're on screen.

Sorry just butt in like this but I have to rant on about how I saw this movie 4 times already since its release >.<! Just so addicted and I absolutely adore Joss Whedon's work! All I could think about other than how awesome the movie is, was that everyone who ever passed up Whedon as a director and threw his scripts away must be kicking themselves right now! Gah, such a great movie!

Can't wait to see how the other heroes progress in their respective movies as well as how they're brought back together for The Avengers 2!

Just saw the movie. Joss Whedon is a goddamned genius. He surpassed all my expectations, and those were really high to begin with. Not only were there awesome fight scenes, which I expected but excellent writing, with some damn funny dialogue added in. I mean, I expect Tony Stark to be funny, Thor not so much, which was quite delightful. All in all, a brilliant moviegoing experience.

I LOVED the helicarrier design in the movie, so sleek and streamlined.
In the old comics they always made it look bulky, closer to a beetle than a sparrow.

Theyīve already started talks on Avengers 2, so my idea:

Put Captain Carol Dangers on the cockpit of one of those f-22 providing air cover to the helicarrier.
Her plane gets captured by the big baddie in mid-battle, they make human-alien experiments on her, something goes wrong and Shazam!
Meet Captain Marvel!

On the plus side:
- We get another female on the roster (as it is right now, itīs too much of a sausage fest for my taste, TBH)
- we get a new heavy hitter, a space hero for a space threat in a team where half the fighters are streetlevel
- Joss Whedon excels at writing/directing his girls.

On the down side:
- cooties.

Maybe an Ultraman-esque origin for Captain Mar-Vell?

The Incredible Hulk opening clips had a Rick Richards in a report.

Maybe a life force merging or Rick gets nega bands switching with Captain Mar-Vell.

I was wondering about how it would look and soooooooo glad they went with something like that, I wasn't a big fan of the old one or god forbid the one from the "The-film-with-a-certain-lifeguard-that-should-not-be-named-and-forgotten-about"

When they find a way of making them survive finger-sized explosives?

That's what bugged me when I first saw it. OK, it's cool and all, but why bother? And isn't it going to be crash prone?

Nothing says 'fuck you' like crashing one of these babies into, say, the Politburo. For one.

It kind of bothered me too when I saw it. To make something like that even remotely viable it'd need redundant engines (and other things), and they'd have to be protected out the wazoo. Never mind that it's just a giant target.

Except you just know that if a populated place is involved, it's going to be Manhattan...

If it's slightly more than a decade ago, I'd be inclined to agree with you; unfortunately, it's no longer kosher to use the city for everything under the Hollywood sun these days. Crashing that hugeass thing into a part of the Manhattan skyline is bound to bring up some... unpleasant memories.

That is why you don't make a huge flying unit. It's a huge target in the air. But unless if it's built by adamantium or vibranium.

It can survive losing two engines out of four. Also, it isn't meant to be attacked; that's why it doesn't have cannons. Just like any normal carrier, it is used for force projection. To increase the range its fighters can reach. It's main defence is cloaking.

They only got discovered because Loki's staff gave away their location.

Well, it's supposed to be stealthed beyond compare. How do you hit a target you can't see, and don't know is there?
