You've been where many of us would like to go, but few have gone. Rest in peace, sir!

Hate to say it, but I desperate want there to be a way for the human race to discover a way to profit from space travel.

People don't just travel long distances for altruistic reasons. Ancient China once created a fleet that was the greatest of its time and went all the way to Africa, but because they didn't seek profit the enterprise just shut down.

I know this is not how anyone want Space travel to be about. I would like humans to travel for a grander purpose. But in the end Greed seems to be the only thing powerful enough to make the push and made people risk their lives.

Armstrong is an explorer. A man of science. I wish that was enough for us to aim higher. But no, we need to find "profit". Reality is cruel.

May he rest in peace.

I didn't even know he was still alive in recent years, to be honest.

Btw, is he the one in Bayformers 3 or is it Buzz Aldrin? I forgot.

Rest in Peace, sir...

I watched a great documentary tonight after I heard of his passing.

http://youtu.be/dIRd2MeHtIE

It has 9 parts for the episode totaling a little less than 90 minutes. VERY much worth the time spent.

I think it was Aldrin.

Sadly since then -- Mankind has been walking backwards.

We should have like a moon-base by now or something. Likewise, I'd like to be alive by the time a man first steps on Mars.

Several posts have been deleted for being off topic. Please do not use this thread to discuss robotics, space program budgets and so on and so on.

As one of the few men I actually idolized, learning his death just now was shocking.

He embodied the dreams of an entire generation, and inspired said generation to reach for the stars even if those after them dared not.

One small death for man, one giant loss for mankind. May he rest in peace.

Sad day for humankind.

Hopefully, space programs will flourish again. If Nasa's kickass robot hadn't landed a few weeks ago, I would say it feels like an era just ended. (although 8 out of 12 "moonwalkers" are still alive)
