I wish it was about any other chapter/army/race. Ultramrines are probably the most bland and boring part of the 40k universe. It would be awesome if it was about the Horus Heresy instead. Or about the Dark Angels.

Waiting for an appropriate time to link this has paid off it seems. I can hardly think of a more appropriate time:
Just to be safe, this is fan made and has nothing to do with the upcoming movie whatsoever.

The marines forums all over the interwebz first picked it up early this year, due to the timing of April Fool's I didn't give it much thought... Looks like it's true.
But who are Codex Pictures? It almost sounds akin to a Forgeworld spinoff of Games Workshop itself. If that is really so, I do hope they are proliferic in their work. FOR THE EMPEROR! and FER DIE KAISER!!! =P @Keroko: ...pleased aren't we?

How come it doesn't turn me on ?
If it's just big guys in giant armors shooting at each other, it's going to be boring fast. The universe is awesome and allows all sorts of dark plots, but this movie seems to go for mindless action. My favorite Games Workshop inspired video is still the Mark of Chaos opening (even though the game is the worse GW game since Shadow of the Horned Rat). I used to play Fantasy Battle and the Pen & Paper RPG, so I am biased toward the Fantasy verse though. |

First reviews out of the Ultramarines movie:
Fan review on Youtube Bell of Lost Souls: Ultramarines First Impressions Very good first impressions it seems, along with the comments about non-40K knowledgeables enjoying the film.

I swear the Ultramarines get too much attention -_- they're way too.. vanilla. Stereotypical macho good guys. Boring. We need more VARIETY.. but hey wth, how many movies are we likely to get? Good enough I guess
That said, any idea when/if this will be released to some of the rather more obscure parts of the world (eg Australasia)? Somehow I get the feeling some of us are going to miss out D:

This film suffered in the same way that the third Gunsmith Cats OVA (ironicaly called "High Speed Edge."): It wasted the potential of badass characters who were meant to be One-Man Armies and Gods-Amongst-Men by putting them into slow and ponderous situations that made them weak and vulnerable.
![]() That said, for what it is worth, the few monstrously violent moments of hand to hand combat was worth the price of admission alone.

There's so much lore in both 40k and Warhammer worlds that i'm surprised it has taken this long for any sort of feature length video of it to come out.
There's a crazy amount of potential to turn into movies, TV, animation. You wouldnt have to be fans of the tabletop game to enjoy it. Would be like LOTR films but with almost no limit to number of films that could be made |
