Yes. Story Arc. Medaka Box is not Slice of Life, nor Moe-blob, nor Harem nor Generic Echii Rom Com.

Personally, I think the VA for Medaka is about as suitable as the VA for Keima Katsuragi from TGWOK. And to me, that's the first sign that the producers have possibly not read the entire manga as it is so far before production.
Alright, thanks for the heads up. It'll be interesting to see how everything unfolds.

Then pray that there'll be at least two cours, if not three. Or... you could read the manga and judge for yourself whether you'd want to see it animated , if you are impatient.

The real plot really only kicks in in the Third and Fourth Arcs. The first two are very much character introductions- at least, that's what I'd see them as.

But it's definitely not Rom-Com, after the first two Arcs.

Spoiler for Manga Spoilers:

You're welcome.

It will be interesting to see if the anime includes the flashback about kumagawa within the enforcer arc

So the general theme I'm getting from the comments here is "it gets better; a lot better."

I found these two first episodes to be painfully average, offering little to someone who's been around the block. But I'll stick with it and give this one a shot to improve in the long haul. I trust the collective wisdom of this forum. And hey, it's not horrible at the moment either, just a bit stock.

lol medaka box is a crazy story (hint -> 4th wall breaking), i just recently catch up to the latest manga chapter and ive finished reading all those 142 chapters (for now) in 3 days only, the art of the manga is great too so its not boring to read at all

i can recommend reading the manga since their is a slim chance that Gainax will adopt this faithfully according to the manga

P.S. and darn their are too much characters btw on Medaka Box so this needs a lot of budget on voice actors/actresses too lol Gainax may go bankrupt if they animate the manga entirely

it does look like they will be doing more than 12 episodes in my view as every description about the show includes the flask plan and bringing out a second promotional video two episodes in only encourages my view.

Episode 1 is a direct adaptation of chapter 1. There is no more understanding than that. Unless you want to read ahead.

I've removed a bunch of posts that hinted too strongly about future events from the manga. I know that it starts slow, but let's keep those future event hints to a minimum so those who haven't read the manga won't be spoiled.

Thank you.

Most probably this will be a 20+ episode season Kuroko no Basket has already been confirmed to be 26, this was announced at exact same and they got this dual promotion thing going on in Shounen jump. It'd seem it a bit weird if this got significantly more or less episodes.

45+ seems highly unlikely for a late night anime, I'm not even sure why that idea was entertained.

As I said when the first episode premiered, very few late-night shows with more than 2-cours (excluding split-cour shows) are popular in the nineties, but dissapear afterwards. GTO and Death Note are the one I can think of.

TBF I forgot what time of the day Nura aired but it did get two 26 epi seasons. I was talking more in 45 in one go as in the second season beening anounced or known anywhere near the end of the first one. It just plain wouldn't be planned and would depend entirely on blu/dvd sales.

It's possible for a popular enough shounen anime, just rare and the fact this is done by Gainax and perhaps it's release time period would count against it.

the 3 main chars are funny, with their diverse and weird personalities

the fan service in eps 2 is a bit obvious but acceptable so far
