basically the topic, i got a dvd writer and I know i need to convert my AVI to a Mpeg-4 format but i dont know how!

Almost all DVD writers come with some applicable software. I would suggest that you check the help files for whatever software you have.

fist off mpeg 4 is not a dvd format its actually mpeg2, you should use nerovision express to transcode your avi files to mpeg 2 then build a dvd template with menus and stuff, its quite simple actually and the quality of the resulting dvd will be awesom.... as long that the original source avi file has a decent resolution
