DVD-R or DVD+R Difference

So I have just finished ripping a bunch of old VHS tapes to the PC and now I want to burn them to DVD but I am not sure which DVD type I should be burning them to for best results.

My DVD burner can handle both formats but could someone please tell me which DVD type would be better for home video viewing?

DVD-R or DVD+R!

What is the difference, I can't find an easy answer.

Thank you

there is no practical difference whatsoever; if you want to be really technical and generally anal DVD+R is slightly better, but is probably not supported in DVD players manufactured before 2004 or so

So if I wanted the best quality and long lasting playback for burning my home videos I should pick DVD+R just for what it is! Slightly more durable and newer.

I did have a look at wiki but I just wanted to get some opinions.

Thanks for your help

DVD-r are actually more expensive to buy as well because they say you can play it on more dvd-players.
This was a problem long ago that since then has been resolved. But things like the first Xbox still use -R. The +R got more popular and is more common nowadays.
