I am indeed doing that with Guilty Crown yes. Still watching that show and still allowing it a chance, but I'll probably end up bringing the hammer down a bit more if it hasn't improved with where it is by the 12 episode mark.

And again, just not immediately bothered by things that vaguely mind me of things I saw in anime kids shows that were on television when I was still young. Just doesn't automatically make a show bad for me and isn't automatically a problem. And besides, they remind me more of the Earth Cult from LOGH than anything in the way they dress. Funny how the same thing can make different people think of something completely different based on their experiences and outlooks. They "got away with it" in LOGH so I don't see any reason why they can't work to make a shady cloak wearing organization work in a Gundam setting, especially since Gundam has been historically is filled with shady organizations.

I still hope Genoace will get a better gun...otherwise this is getting ridiculous...Gundam can enjoy the one-shot-kill while Genoace's gun can't even hurt the UE one bit...and we all know from last episode that Genoace can use the new rifle as well
I don't think it's that easy or they would have probably given Woolf's custom Genoace a Dodds rifle by now. I think they might actually need actual combat data per production, not per weapon type, but don't quote me on that as it does seem a little strange that it wouldn't save the data gathered from Nora.

Took your word for it and went and watched 5 episodes. Quite frankly it's good it was 5 because from the looks of it those assholes were probably gonna kill one of the only two sane people there next episode.

And what character development. We start with 3 but end up with 1. Everything is just the big political fuckup. The characters are so much driven by ungodly coincidence I stopped expecting character development after episode 3 and was just waiting for the next asspull to come. The deus-ex-machina of doom at play in this one is just unbelievable. It's just SO dumb and stupid I'm surprised the war isn't caused by half of earth's population forgetting to breathe. Yeah I agree the animation doesn't matter, who has time to look at how ugly some of it is when your jaw is on the ground from how stupid everything is. Maybe some people experience that as some kind of intelectual "disbelief" or something, to me it was more like: "NOOO YOU DUMBASSES!! (insert next stupid scene) Argh, you stupid stupid stupid...."

Well to be precise the entire plot runs on hot air, and nothing else. I can't imagine what the hell these people are smoking. Since the so called "invasion" started there was literally an opportunity for peace every 3min. All of which they've gracefully avoided, hell the protagonists are more of warmongers then Hitler. By the time I finished episode 5 I couldn't care less for the protagonists to be honest. In fact to hell with it, that trigger happy moon women should just roast everyone there since they were all too stupid and barbaric to live anyway.

The moon guys aren't far from stupid either, but I give them some credit for being pacifists though all of it—well what I watched anyway.

Yes a lot more stuff happens, but to me nothing I should care about happens. It's not fun watching stupid people do even stupider things over and over and over... The entire thing is quite disheartening too, since it's pretty obvious the series wants you to sympathize with the bullying, egoistic, stupid, cowardly, dishonorable, warmonger earthlings. Yeah well, no thanks. I'll take the quality character development in AGE over quantity in Turn A any day.

Not at all, you aren't supposed to sympathise with them, maybe certain characters, but not Earthlings as a whole. The good thing about Tomino shows is you don't have to pick sides since he specialises in pointing out flaws equally in both, and he is especially good at showing "the good guys on the bad side, and the bad guys on the good side" type of dilemmas. By all means laugh at most the earthlings because you ARE suppose to laugh/hate how backwards they are, especially the earthling men in the show. The earthlings in Turn A Gundam is a reflection of pre-industrialised Earth, before feminist movements and proper democracy, you are supposed to look at it and say "geez, you know we human beings used to be pretty messed up and sexists, glad we aren't regressing". But then again the solution isn't to just "hey kill them all and start a clean slate!", which is the what the protagonist Loran stands against as he believes that people are inherently good and capable of change. The attraction of the show is seeing whether the people Loran believes in redeem themselves or not, whether they changed from their xenophobic ways. Some of them do, some of them don't.

Anyway probably shouldn't talk about Turn A too much in the AGE thread.

Good explanation. And felix, sadly your falling into exactly the kind of trap the haters/trolls would want you to in comparing Turn A against AGE unfavourably. They want to see the different Gundam series pitted against each other and everything to all come crashing down as a result, but please don't continue to fall into the trap. If Turn A isn't to your liking fine, not every Gundam series is for everyone, but don't let it be to the expense of AGE or vice versa. Like I keep desperately trying to explain, each AU is pretty different in flavor or tone so it's really not fair to be comparing them against one another and expecting them to be like Gundam series x and/or not like Gundam series y. In fact one of the rules in this thread specifically states not to do so and for very good reason I might add.

I said there were telltale signs...The dystopian world and mishmash of cultural dynamics to the backdrop of a primitive yet futuristic world is a very intriguing precursor to start on in Gundam...(Strawman alert) Now that's more creativity in my book than a biga$$ Bender Bending Rodriguez machine that makes S-Class weapons outta thin air, but we all have our crosses to bare...If mine is to passively convince someone to watch Turn A Gundam then I'll take that charge ...That show is superb despite your angling...But subjectivity inherits the crucifix shield itself...Too bad you won't get to experience one of the most enriching journeys Gundam has ever created...

@houkoholic - That last post was beautiful...

That does seem a bit weird if it was true, I'm pretty sure that Flit saved the combat data in the last episode to the AGE System via Haro. Data also seems pretty easily replicable these days so it would be weird if they need actual combat data per production because the DODS used by AGE-1 is still the same.

Even if specific combat data is needed at a specific time, I would find it VERY hard to believe that the AGE Builder did not save data of the DODS Rifle schematic (which was made in response to real combat data) because the DODS Rifle is sort of like a "response data output" to a problem presented by combat data. Even if this was not the case that the AGE System did not save either the real time combat data or the DODS Rifle creation data (which I find hard to believe in a high tech spaceage, let alone on a state of the art information and creation like the AGE System), I find it hard to believe they could not just scan the DODS Rifle and make another one since they already physically made one. The only reasoning I can see is cost, even then I would find a bit weird because the ability to damage the UE seems to be worth a lot in my opinion.

The other possibility that I can think of is that output of the DODS Rifle actually is not strong enough if used by a weaker suit like the Genoace Custom. Its possible that the weapons in AGE are still reliant electricity powerplant output from the MS and that can reduce the beam output if the MS powerplant cannot give it enough. If the DODS Rifle linearts and Episode 3 are any indication, the rifle does have an ammunition limit and its possible that only the beam particles are stored in the magazine while electricity output that is possibly an important variable factor in damage comes from the MS itself. I recall Woolf only shot at asteroids in Episode 4 and he did not have a real beam rifle of his own. I really do wish they release more actual mechanical data on the mechs soon or eventually because its hard to work purely with speculations over speculations alone.

Of course, if this is true, then the Genoace Custom is gonna be screwed no matter what weapon it uses............

A few other potential explanations for it could be that: (a) it's a prototype, so too unstable for mass production (b) it's too expensive to mass produce—unlikely but still (c) it requires Gundam nearby to use because of some inbuilt safety (d) none of the other gundams have the ability to use targetting with it—so shooting at a big asteroid is fine, shooting at small moving mechs wouldn't work.

Spoiler:

Now, if we're done with this hype train over Turn A let's get back to AGE. I quite frankly don't care who likes it or not, this is the AGE thread. You said it had more character developement in the first 5 episodes if one can only look the other way when it comes to the animation, so I gave it 5 episodes and disregarded the animation quality, yet still didn't see the so called greatness. The point wasn't to compare AGE (5 episode so far) with Turn A (50? episodes and finished).

I am finding her possessiveness over Flit a bit annoying, but hopefully later on she will come to understand that if this is what he wants to do stop bitching and support him. If not thank god there are two other generations and I won't have to listen to her the entire time like that Flay chick.

Been lurking past few days, but have been unable to post until now.

It's not that I don't understand Emily's situation with Flit. It is merely the fact that I think she has no right, at all to get in the way of what he wishes to do. To go out of her way and choose for Flit whether or not to challenge Woolf, and going to Grodek to assign the Gundam to someone else. Not her place at all to do that.

While that may be true, Flit accepted the challenge anyway.

Actually, in this case, she has a right to voice her concerns. Regardless of his knowledge of the Gundam, Flit doesn't appear to be an official military pilot. And since Grodek himself is not the legitimate captain of the Diva, the least he could do is to hear Emily's complaint.

Even if you disagree with Emily's opinion, you can't say it's not her place to say something about this presumably unorthodox situation.

For a hacker-slash-pirate captain, Grodek did handle Emily's (CGO Vargas' granddaughter) well, since he needs not just the Gundam itself, but also the entire AGE System support structure. Ironically, one of those (the gundam pilot) got nullified by Desil's inhuman "skillz" moments later.

Desil is so lucky he was only knocked by Flit's little vehicle... it could have been a car

how come the UEs are flying around freely inside the colony? could Fardain be connected to UE?
