Good, good. That is about what I thought was going on.

(There are images of a little girl in green with a headband related to Yamato. Is that suppose to be Schultz daughter?)

Artists are at work though. Even getting some of the new uniforms a test along with the old...in cosplay form.

This person has uploaded a lot a massive crossover space battle images as well.

Also there was this for the possible future:

Would be kind of a dream if it was Yamato crewmembers that designed and built Andromeda.

I like that it is an updated version of the cruisers we see in the first ep of Yamato 2199.
It makes sense that the EDF/UNCN wouldn't jump straight to the Borodino if the construction facilities for the cruiser type already existed. Applying the Iscandar technology to the older UNCN designs makes more sense IMHO.
At least during the war with Gamilas.

More Gamilas designs (fanmade of course):

Pre-Yamato 2199 I assumed the Earth rebuilt some other old wrecks to serve as a mix of combat fleet or armed evacuation ships (what Yamato was suppose to be before the Iscandarian tech). These would be built possibly along side refit older UN designs as those old designs were considered to be very small back then. At that time I assumed they would be used to defend Earth from Gamilas attack while Yamato was away using slight improvements on the Iscandarian technology as well as prototyping what would later be the 2201 fleet. These ships (maybe a dozen or so rebuilt wrecks plus other UN ships) would only be active until the 2201 fleet was large enough to take over and then be mothballed (Yamato might have been given the same fate).

Post Yamato 2199, my thoughts have shifted (along with seeing a version of Harlock's ship from the manga). My assumption now is that the Earthers had captured Gamilas tech, but not full knowledge of how to use it, and did not have access to Wave Motion Cores. After Yamato leaves, and the Pluto Base is no more, I would expect the Earth to raid any Gamilas shipwrecks for fuctional Cores and fit those to refit ships. They can build Wave Motion Engines, just fine...it is the Cores they need at this point.

My thought is that manga Harlock's ship was a refit Earth design fitted with an Earth build Wave Motion Engine and powered by a captured Gamilas Wave Motion Core.

Similarly the above UNCF cruiser refit would also use a captured Gamilas Core in an Earth built Wave Motion Engine. In theory the Iscandarian Core in Yamato is superior to the Gamilas Cores, so Yamato has an advantage. Either they won't get any more Iscandarian Cores...get a bunch (or plans on how to make them) from Starsha, or start making Gamilas based copies. It might explain why Yamato tends to survive while other newer Earth ships don't (superior Wave Motion Shielding?)

The Gamilas pictures aren't showing up.

The original version of the UNCF cruiser is suppose to be a 2170 design.

Yes, it's Schulz's daughter, there's even one of Schulz looking at the image. (so either she's his daughter or he's a perv) XDDD

I agree that is a logical assumption (using Gamilas tech) and many fans do share your assesment.
Take for example Zenseava's EDF ship designs.

Here are the pivix images again, this time through my photobucket:

A few more Gamilas ships from Zenseava:

Spoiler for Mars to Pluto and back...Hurry Cosmo Force:

I am reminded of the "Starflies" episode, and that with the "new additions", zero gravity could be a lot of fun (to watch).

We see it fly past Neptune, leaving "Inter-stellar speed" and the estimated ETA to Mars is of 10 minutes.

That is about 30 AU at that time in 2199...so roughly 3 AU a minute.

Hmmm.

It takes light about 8 minutes to go one AU. Those Iscandarian ships are really fast. About 24 times the speed of light (or for old time Star Trek fans....almost Warp Factor 3). "Inter-stellar speed" indeed.

And yes I know, speed of the plot takes priority.

Woah, that's fast.
You are correct macdawson, it was Neptune not Saturn, my mistake.

Assuming a vessel comes out of "Wave Motion Space" like Yamato (meaning a dead stop or slowly) I think it is safe to assume that the Earth/Gamilas ships are traveling at some fraction of light speed (.01C to .99+ C but not 1.0C or greater).

Mars to Pluto orbit is what...about 4.811 billion km or about 3 billion miles?
That's roughly 32 AU on average or as you say Ithekro, 38 AU using Celestia's data (which is excellent IMHO).
So that would be about 18-22 Earth days at .01C or 1860 miles per second.
That's assuming the Kirishima can travel at maximum speed after being heavily damaged at the Battle of Pluto.

Well also remember that Kirishima and the other Earth ships don't have artificial gravity like Yamato does. The acceleration and deceleration might be a factor in how fast they can go...damaged or not. Though they did do some fancy turns during the battle when they decided to bring their forward tubes to bare on the Gamilas fleet.

If Yamato is really fast, I would hate to see just how fast Andromeda is if it is the "fastest ship in the fleet". Though "fastest" might mean acceleration rather than top speed...as Andromeda has four secondary engines to Yamato's two. Yamato could not out accelerate Andromeda even if they had the same top speed (which I guess could be limited only by how good the artificial gravity is at taking the stress of moving all that mass (while not turning the crew into red paste on the bulkheads)...again assuming the Earth ships can only beat light speed via Warping/Wormholes).

The current crop of directors are paying more attention to details and I like that. I might pick at things, but nothing has caused displeasure or bafflement as of yet.

They've got some pretty heavy-hitters as consultants and advisors on the show; including SF Writer, Tsukasa Shikano, as well as noted Astrophysicist, Toshihiro Handa.

Freaking awesome!

So what. They're actually trying to make the Yamato universe a qausi respectable grounded sci-fi show?

Though man! It's so incredible to see so many enthusiastic fans going on a number chucking binge about everything!

As for the 10 minutes travel time for those 30 AU's, although we are shown the Sheherazade traveling in normal space she must be still travelling at "warp speed", for all we know the Iscandarian ships warping technique is diferent from the Yamato's, more akin to Star Trek's warp drive. (Perhaps even the Gamilas) So instead of jumping from one point in space to another they use an "Alcubierre" type field to warp space, thus speeding along at FTL speeds, averting the relativistic and physical limitations. The point here is that in a show like this you have to compromise. It's good that they're bringing specialist in order to at least get certain things straight and improve on the original (Titan is a perfect example). But this is sci-fi and this is Yamato. If we were to go by the book and all physicky then right off the bat the first point would be "WTF?! An old WW II battleship is converted into a state of the art space craft?" Right?!

Speed of the plot takes priority (Star Trek did that all the time). Arriving in ten minutes is exciting and gives the Earth fleet not all that long that it needs to hold out against the Gamilas fleet that is pasting them rather quickly when the Iscandarian ship arrives (80% attrition rate).

Otherwise, with near-light speed travel, the report would have been, "Estimated ETA, 4 hours." While that is perfectly logical and roughly realistic...it isn't exciting for 23 minute episode or a 50 minute movie.
