Tim Burton!!!! Gotta love this guy. Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite movie from him. Awesome movie, very funny. Mars Attack! and Sleepy Hollow were very cool too.

I love Tim Burtons stuff, ever since I saw Edward Scissor Hands! yeah, good stuff. I have his book of poems...'The melancholy death of oyster boy' heres an excerpt

Stick Boy and Match Girl in Love-

Stick Boy liked Match Girl,
He liked her a lot.
He liked her cute figure,
he thought she was hot.

But could a flame ever burn
for a match and a stick?
It did quite literally;
he burned up pretty quick.

I like much the atmosphere which 'emerges' from his movies, Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman 1 and 2, Mars Attack!, Edward Scissor Hands and Sleepy Hollow were all awesome movies.

In fact, I like all his work exept Planet of the Apes.

Edward Scissorhands has always been one o' my favourite films. (Well, no, I suppose that's not quite right - it wasn't one o' my favourite films prior to 1990, the year it was released. So, really, that should read: Edward Scissorhands has been one o' my favourite films since I first saw it in 1990. Yes, that's much better.)

There are scarce few directors who can match Burton's commanding sense of ambience and style. And I do agree with Hunter - Planet of the Apes was a disappointment - but otherwise I think Burton has maintained an excellent level of consistency over the years.

I hadn't heard about this book of poems. Seems like something I would want to read.

I love Tim Burton's work, especially Batman Franchise. Alas, he didn't do those poor takes on the batman legacy after part 2, and it showed.

As far as I know Burton has only done one poor movie and that was "Planet of the Apes". He should stick to dark and twisted, he is VERY good at that.

Planet of the Apes DID suck, good thing I didn't pay to watch it....but I did love that intro song. Danny Elfman does some killer songs, just like the batman ones.

Nightmare before Christmas is his best work, period. That remains a childhood favourite, while not my favourite movie now is still memorable.

Edward Scissor Hands was an odd one (Odd doesn't make it bad ) I only saw it on TV once.. a long time ago. I watched it over whatever else was on that day, so it must have been good I don't remember much about it.. Only a few bits. (He cut some shrubs.... made those lil people connected out of paper, and lock picked some door lol)

The original Planet of the Apes were great movies though. I was all over AMC's 24 hour marathon a couple weeks back.

Yes it would be considered licensed. I saw it last month in a Seattle movie theater, it was part of a collection of animated shorts done by independant artist called The Animation Show. It's still playing in select theaters accross the US for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, and really worth checking out. By far the funniest ones are any done by Don Hertzfeldt, but I love the Vincent one also. Also if you can't see it in theaters try and check out one called The Rock. It was really awsome.
