Russia went on war alert over missile test:

"Just as the Syrian crisis was getting under way, a joint U.S.-Israeli test of an
anti-missile system prompted the Russian General Staff to go on “high alert” and
notify President Vladimir Putin that missiles may be incoming on Syria."

What I don't get is why is everyone making such a big fuss about it now? What exactly was Syria planning to with the gas?

The excuse is that Syria committed a war crime. But by that argument the UN really should have marched on Washington for the use of Torture. So the only thing we can assume is that the Cruise Missile lobby really want their products used.

Obama pardoned Bush; and his replacement will pardon Obama. Now, why the pardoning if they haven't done anything wrong?

Across enemy lines, wounded Syrians seek Israeli care:

"What started this year as a trickle is now a steady flow of Syrians, scores of
civilians and fighters wounded in the civil war and being discreetly brought across
the Golan frontline into Israel - a country with which Syria is formally still at war.

For all the advantages it brings of excellent medical care, it is a journey fraught with
risk for those who fear the wrath of President Bashar al-Assad's government.

"There was one man, where I am from, who was treated in Israel. The regime forces
killed his three brothers," the teenage girl's mother said. "They will kill my sons and
my husband if they ever find out we were here."

For fear of retribution back home, Syrians in Israeli clinics who spoke to Reuters
asked not to be named."

The don't want refugees going to Israel for treatment. After all, they can't afford to have
Arabs questioning decades of anti-Israel propaganda, now can they?

It would be weird if the Arabs put aside their differences with the Jews and ousted Assad.

I always thought the ideology had been trumped by practicality a long time ago? All the rhetoric is just to make it seem they're still trying to do something about it.

Technically speaking, they are supposed to be long-lost brothers, alongside the Christians. It is just that each tribe sees Jesus/Isa & Messiah/Allah/Yahweh in a different way.

Note that most of their faith are still over the barren lands of the Mideast. It is like some sort of family quarrel that lasted two millenia.

Family huh.

As the oldest, does that make Israel the Onee-san? Then Arabs are like the yandere imouto determined to possess her body...love sure is complicated.

Considering the infighting within the tribes of Israel as part of the larger conflict, it is more like three millenia, if not more (depending on how far back to you take arguements and how far back you consider to be historical or at least culturally valid).

Doesn't help that Islam itself has split into two factions that are likely to be even more irreconcilable with each other. And it isn't even based on a religious debate, but on who gets to be Muhammad's successor. All because he didn't have a child.
