Kirie and Okonogi are only around 1 year older than Niiya (he should be turning 13 that year) so it is not that weird... |

And seriously? Young enough to be her 'younger brother'? That's a range from anywhere between 10 months to 10 years.

I thought Yuuko was at least 1.80 and eventough ghosts supposedly have no weight, less than 60 kilos? no way, she would be a stick figure even at 1.70 The Kirie weight also reflects the typical japanese mindset >_< you can't look meaty AND have a doll weight :/

I finally had a chance to see Episode 5 tonight. I really enjoyed interaction between Kirie and Momoe and Anatomically Correct but Heartless Model guy. There were a lot of good moments between those three.
However, I was vexxed by Niiya's girlish behavior in this episode. "Yuuko, don't press against me!" and "Where are you touching?" while his face looked like he was seeing something in the shower room of the local Y.M.C.A. FFS son, show a little backbone, will ya? ![]() Normally I can look past this sort of behavior, but tonight, when watching this episode, it really ground my gears. Endless "Very vexxed" Soul

Then we have the fact that he's 12, that weird age when you are aware of the opposite sex but still feel pretty uncomfortable about being near girls. Niiya has a MUCH MUCH better excuse for his behaviour than those 16-25 year old MCs that act exactly like him or worst. |

I'm pretty impressed that they managed to get this episode without any massive changes to it. Although one obvious change was that the Heartless Anatomy Model wasn't able to enjoy the festival in the manga.
Such a lucky bastard, that Anatomy Model guy, seeing Kirie while changing.

Kirie finally gets her time in the limelight. Though it happened much, much earlier than I expected, I was waiting for this part. Thank goodness it wasn't cut from the anime. I'd prefer if she would actually grow out her hair. Long-haired Hime Cut hairstyle FTW.
![]() She looks almost like the reincarnation of her grand aunt, except that Yuuko is still in the world as a ghost, and Kirie didn't inherit her relative's... other traits. She has her own charm to make up for it, though. ![]() Spoiler for my thoughts as a fan of the source:

And rightly so, actually. I've written books and I've written for TV, and they are two completely different animals. On very rare occasions, you can be almost entirely faithful to the source material (John Huston's adaptation of The Maltese Falcon is a legendary example), but most of the time you can't. There are just too many differences in what you can or can't do with each medium. |

^--Yeah, if the original creators were allowed to have total control of adaptations we would either see horrendous adaptations or no adaptations at all (since most studios cannot work under the guidance of control freaks that know nothing about TV/film).

The original Authors are always allow to make creative inputs, but what this means varies from person to person- It might surprise you to know but some of them wouldn't mind new takes on their works and allow the Studio to switch things around.
You know, as long as you don't screw up the characters...

Excellent episode in so many ways, probably my favorite so far, especially the photo-album of Kirie making her first friend in the middle was a beautiful (and budget-saving) idea
