Episode 1 - Born Slippy / Deep Blue
I'm really surprised. This feels really well produced, and it's also very enjoyable to watch. The strangest thing is, against all expectations - it FEELS like Eureka Seven. The way the scenes are directed and framed, the colors, the backgrounds, the animation motion, tons of nice 2D mechanical stuff like cars, ships, etc. It really does feel like a new E7 production. Kyoda doesn't seem to have lost it either, the first episode is well paced, and MUCH better than the manga in terms of pace and how scenes occur. I like the freshness of the lead voices, there's a rawness to their voices, but also an honesty. Something the original E7 definitely had. Oh and if anyone has any concerns about the music, forget it. The music is fantastic, and probably the strongest point of the show next to the visuals. I'm really glad BONES finally got to make another show like this with character designs which actually look "normal" and nice, instead of the garbage from Star Driver, Un-Go, and Towa no Quon. This feels familiar, and it's pretty nostalgic. Really hope they can keep this up.

Okay I'll try to summarize my thoughts here.
This was actually an interesting first episode. Not much has happened, seems like the first two or three episodes are going to be the setup, there wasn't even a fight or anything. The music is good (though the ED is horrifying), the protag's voice is good... Well, I suppose animation is decent most of the time. As far as the story goes... well at this point there isn't really much to say aside from "Interesting, but what does this have to do with Eureka Seven"? Yeah I guess that'll suffice for now. Oh yeah, the Giant Enemy Shapes were coming from some sort of portal so I'd go for an alternate world theory, though it obviously doesn't explain wingless Eureka. |

And thus all the doom saying was proven to be over exaggeration.
This show doesn't just feel like it a sequel to E7. It feels like it is E7, like this aired right after episode 50 had and we were just getting into the next arc of the show. I'm not sure how it connects to the original (as some had already pointed out, there are more than enough details to make it seem like it's more of a spin off rather than a continuation) but then again, I never managed to connect the dots and see the bigger picture in the original show up until the very end when Renton and Eureka (and the kid trio) had been stranded and we finally revealed the true history behind the series in the BONES Official Handbook. So at the moment, what the sh*t is going on is not in my list of concerns, because if the original series didn't give me a clear cut answer until about 20+ hours of viewing time, this show is sure not going to do so right off it's first episode. At least, if it really is an Eureka Seven sequel. In any case, 8/10 for the first episode. A very good start to a much loved series, and a personal classic. Well be watching for the second volume of that BONES Handbook ...

Got the E7 feeling from it. So the first time the scub burst came out from the ground and the second time it fell from the sky. Was thinking if tit came from the ground then somehow the scub regressed to stay within the core of the earth since they have water on the surface. But the second time messed up that theory, so i'm not sure. Also wonder why Naru has powers.
