Something like the relationship in Key?

I was rewatching Key the Metal Idol a bit, and I greatly enjoyed the characterization between Key and Tsurugi. He was such a critical, aggressive man and I loved how he craftily tried to provoke the human aspects out of Key. I was wondering if any other stories have this type of relationship. They don't have to be lovers or anything, but one of the two chars has to fall into the 'emotionless' category. Also, the general tone MUST be mostly serious; little to no comedy, and ESPECIALLY no rampant fanservice(this is important).

Saikano - eat some sugary candy once you get past the halfway point of the series to keep your spirits up...

Man, I should really get around to making a MAL account (>.>)... I've seen Saikano already, but it certainly fits the criteria in a way in the latter episodes.

It doesn't have to be anime, it could be manga/manwha/webtoons or whatever they call it these days =03.

I've not seen Key the Metal Idol, but from your description it's possible you might enjoy House of Five Leaves.

Not quite what I'm looking for. Something like this (0:25 ~ 2:32), this (5:26 ~ 6:19), and this (4:42 ~ 5:57). But this Ho5L doesn't seem too bad =03. I'll put it in my queue for later. Thanks.

Last chance. There's got to be something out there like this. How about just the emotionless character being the main char and various dramas occur with her in them? Eureka 7 would be a good example of this.

Angel Beats! (Kanade is a secondary main character and meets the emotionless criteria - there's only one scene that might count as fanservice, and although there are some well-done comedic scenes, the overall series tone is pretty sombre if you ask me)

Now and Then, Here and There (Lala Ru is emotionless, this is not a light-hearted series)

Martian Successor Nadesico (Ruri is emotionless, but there is some fanservice and the series tone is more light-hearted)

You've probably seen it, but Evangelion has Ayanami Rei... who practically defined the "emotionless heroine" character type.

Stratos 4 has an emotionless character out of a set of four heroines. I don't recall there being blatant fan service in this series, but with an all-female cast like that, I may just not recall it. (Edit: actually, now I'm not positive that this series has what you're looking for, due to fuzzy memory. I'll leave it up here so that you can investigate it for yourself, if you feel up to it.)

This is a pretty frustrating exercise in memory, because I feel like I've seen what you're asking for in tons of series. I just can't remember them all...

I would rather recommend Steins;Gate and Bakemonogatari : both are psychological thriller series with lot of talking, but the only problems is there's too much comedy and some blatant fanservice (more present in Bakemonogatari). Also, I think there's one or two emotionless characters in both series.

Thanks for the suggestions =03.

NTHT, Nadesico, Eva are titles I've already seen =0(. Stratos 4 wasn't my cup of tea when I watched it a long time ago, as I don't usually like all-girl affairs. Lala-ru and Rei are good examples; though not so much Ruri, since she's not the main char of the story(even though she is one of the more important ones), plus the show has lots of comedy. I'll give Angel Beats a look though, thanks.

I've already watched Bake. As for S;G, is the emotionless character the focus of the story? I don't want things to be so focused on some general plot if the emo-less char isn't the main protagonist.

The protagonist isn't emotionless for this one, that's why the emotionless character was the secondary one.
