The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1
Try posting a very large message. Exceeding the limits.
This is an error, and it's not in vBulletin (as it used to work). While one can still figure out the nature of the issue, it's more useful to show the normal "Your message is XXXXXXX characters long, limit is YYYYYY." PM conversations don't seem to have the error. It only affects posts.

I think it's still a glitch in vBulletin, as it sometimes does work. I ran into this once the other day, and then I tried again and it worked fine. I didn't have the chance to investigate further at the time, but I think there must be a certain situation where it doesn't work, and another where it does.

I can replicate it consistently. It may be that it's related to the size. Try posting double the limit.
Also, you're running an old version, so it's not like if I submit it to vB the fix will reach you. Please check if it's not some modification you've made. I can see some people getting confused as initially if you go from say quick post to preview, you get nothing, you just get your message wiped (no error).

I'm having that problem as I'm trying to post a new chapter of one of my fanfics . It is 10 500 words long, and I kept getting the "this message is too short" notice... Should I send it via PM to someone?

Those two posts are too long. 87619 characters long. Longest post allowed is 50000. The forum would normally tell you this, however, we've got a lower-level filter in place to mitigate buffer overrun risks in PHP. This filter drops the offending POST argument at ~65KB, and logs an error. As a result the post script only sees an empty message and tells you to post at least 10 characters (the minimum post length).
As expect I see this in the logs when I try to post them: Quote:
