Actually some people did believe he died, though I have absolutely no idea why they assumed that. It was clear that that kid-guy just knocked him out so they could fall back after their plan started to fall apart last episode, but a bunch of people thought that the kid-guy killed him for some odd reason......

Maybe because of the suddenly red filter in his view when he fell unconscious.

he could still be dead, and GHQ is just using a trick to make ppl think he is still alive. Didnt they mention Segai was the new chief. So its possible he is dead, but its anyones guess until ep 14 comes out

"This puzzling power..."
Yeah? What's more puzzling is the script, but that isn't anything new. Random enemy of the week was hilarious. Pointless.
The BGM's sense was... very bad. Nothing new here either, but I wish the BGM didn't suddenly sing all of a sudden, for no real reason.
Speaking of songs, OP and ED changed. OP's song isn't as screwed up near the end of the OP, at least, so that is an improvement, but the ED became so incredibly worse. And this singer again. Ugh, her voice is so... Ugh...

As always, the Boyd ('s Killer Axe!) is so convenient. A cow could predict that a leg Boyd ('s Iron Axe!) was gonna be her Boyd ('s Steel Axe!).
Convenient evolution too.

Thought the blond guy was a bit.. Ur... crazier. Whatever.
Speaking of enemy, where is Dan?! DAAAAAAAAAAN! He couldn't have died! All he has to do is say, "It missed my critical point!" and everything makes sense!
But wait, because I thought of this new idea... I must be... "Adam"!

Any good points of the episode? It wasn't as bad as the previous?

So Shu now can draw void without the person knock unconscious, when will we see Shu take out the void from his body?

Don't tell me the last episode.

Episode 13:

- That episode where everybody's faces are too big different, and the action were all plagued with still frames and speed lines.

- That said, story wise theres nothing too disagreeable this episode, and not too much to take away from the showing. Except that students in two weeks of isolation turn into thugs that prey on wheelchair girls after looking all over the net and finding out Katawa Shoujo at 2039 still hasn't gotten a Japanese patch.

- I actually like the new OP. Song isn't too bad. Will Haruka be piloting an Endlave as well?

- Is Ayase taller than Shu, or was it just the new pair of ice skates she was wearing?

- Daryl with glasses was kind of cute. Tsundere~

- ED was lazy. Scenes from previous episodes, and live-action sequences of suburbs. The live action really ruins the futuristic atmosphere of the show.

- Immortal people in this show: Gai, Daryl, and now Keido. I wouldn't be too shocked if Gai came back. "I died in that dimension...but I'm alive here in the real world, because I couldn't leave you to your own devices."

That, and the action scene was pretty cool. Really, it's not that bad of an episode.

I sort of wish I rated the episode a point lower though, because upon further analysis, it wasn't really that good. Devil Survivor had a more realistic and more entertaining story when it comes to getting trapped within a wall. This one just raised questions like why didn't they make the bad guys' motivation to steal the students' food rather than ruin their fun (Not that I care. I hate one-dimensional bullies), how did the wall get built so fast, why waste resources on a festival instead of preserving your safety, why can't Shu destroy the wall with his voids (they allow him to defy physics, apparently, so why not?), and so on and so forth. Not to mention, even when I ranked the episode as I did, I hated how Ayase was given a needlessly overblown dramatic plotline that turned her into the kind of character I really hate. My dislike of the show and my struggle to find enjoyment might have tipped the positive scales a bit.

Wow finally. I like how Shu is now currently is a state of transition. The only time he looked emo was at the very start when he was thinking of doing something but his powers reminds him of what had happened. However throughout the episode he looks a lot calmer and more determine. Near the end he wasn't hesitant to use his power at all. Perhaps his real personality is why he sometimes show his gar-ish eyes when he draws the void.

Hopefully people are open minded enough to see that he's at least changing now instead of only seeing and remembering what he was in the past episodes. He's pretty much going to be a Simon (Gurren Lagann) I guess.

And damn it Tsugumi. Why are you so awesome? Anyways I was a little surprised that Ayase would be the one that took it hardest. It made sense but I was thinking Shu might take it the hardest.

"why can't Shu destroy the wall with his voids"
They might explain that later. So far some of the "inconsistencies" that we noticed was usually explained later like why Gai did not faint or how come he know Daryl had kaleidoscope. Hopefully... either way I'm still enjoying the show more than others so I don't know.

This episode was pretty silly and very predictable (in a scene-to-scene-to-scene kind of way, not in my expectations for the episode going in), but it was also relatively tight and by far the most likable the protagonist cast as a whole (especially Shu) have been.

Animation quality did take a bit of a dive in this episode, but the action scenes were still fun to watch, and I liked how the build-up for them was handled.

This episode was a bit interesting in that it fused some of the most common and modern anime tropes with 80s Saturday Morning Cartoon sensibilities (seriously, Segai's little disguise and how he used the antagonists of this episode was like something straight out of Inspector Gadget, G.I. Joe, or He-Man). It did give the episode a sort of quirky charm, that kind of excused much of its sillier/more predictable aspects.

Overall, I'd give it 8/10.

For a series this short... I wish they didn't have such empty-ish filler like episodes. We at least saw Ayase's void and we get an explanation about Shu's evolved power. The post apocalyptic goons were funny.

Anyhow, Gai could be alive if Keido was spared. Keido was impressed by Gai's void power. Daath(Death, whatever his name is) was in the room. He did have an interest in Mana and would have saved her if he could. This means he would have also saved Gai if he so desired.

The students and everyone in their vicinity has been abandoned by the GHQ. Looks like Shu is about to go Lelouch and recruit himself an army.

Will Daryl switch sides?

OK what the FUCK is going on? How did we go from “We just stopped Armageddon” to “Let’s have a school festival”. Did I miss an episode?

At least cat-girl Tsugumi was awesome.

Also, if Shu doesn't pull out his own void by the end, I'll eat my hat.

No, but I guess you missed that this episode takes place two weeks after Shu and company stopped Armageddon. Things tend to cool down somewhat after a good period of time.

All I can say is that the people I see around the 'net whining about the school festival this episode really don't understand what they're talking about. The school festival made PERFECT sense in their situation. They have people sitting around miserable in cardboard boxes in the school gym. It's a little thing called "raising spirits." Throwing a festival not only gives them something to do other than sit around being miserable, it gives them something happy to do other than sit around being miserable. It also takes their minds off of the negative atmosphere by doing something positive and constructive. It's certainly better than leaving everybody wallowing in near-desperation, waiting for them to start rioting like in the other quarantine areas.

I know that, but it's just so jarring. They might have had two weeks or more in between stuff, but I saw episode 12 two days ago... )

Well, unless you wanted two episodes of them sitting around the school doing nothing, a time skip was just the right thing.

to be honest.... I miss My Dearest and the previous ending song.... but the new op is ok for me... more Shu X Inori

unpredictably, Shu is so mature.... I thought he will still cry about killing Gai and Mana... but he looks more stronger and that's we call Character Development.... and also he's closer to Inori (and got Ayase's flag too... woot!!)
and now, he can drag Void and give it to the owner??? nice!! how about give the sword to Inori and Shu will use his own Void??? Ayase can run... xD

Daryl X Tsugumi??? nice pair.... lol

from this episode, we know that there's still lots that Shu need to do... that isolated area reminded me with Darker Than Black... so their goal maybe gathering the rest of Undertaker's members and then go inside the isolated area.... or maybe they'll just kick that new governor

give the badass-long-coat Shu next episode please!!!

Thanks for the confirmation, now I can say my thoughts about him

I'm not sure if their using Daryl right. As I said on a previous thread, he was a ticking time bomb who was always neglected by anyone, including his father. In the end that bomb went off when he killed his father. Now, 2 weeks later, he's acting as if nothing had happened and seems perfectly resiliant to what he had done and what had happened with GHQ. Could someone like his possibly recover that fast?

I'm going to say he will eventually. Purely on what happened with him and Tsugumi in this episode. Throughout this anime Daryl has been treated badly and had nothing but bad luck. He had his Mech suit stolen from him, he was neglected by everyone including his father. That moment when Tsugumi offering him an candy apple was the first sign of kindness he had actually received since he was introcuded. I bet he's going to get more involved and eventually realise that 'friendship was all he ever needed' and at the last moment joins them or something similar to that.

Quite some nice action scenes in this episode, but I just can't imagine anybody, in this case Shu and Ayase, posing after a battle. Its just like they were somehow seeking for attention, aren't they suppose to 'blend in' with the school community?

However the cliffhanger at the end seems promising, lets hope it delivers.
