It's a bit more than that. Chang and Co. were basically selling out much of DPRK's mineral rights to PRC companies at very cheap prices. There was quite a bit of backlash at this pro-PRC activities, and seems like Kim has sided with the "nationalists". Ironically we might see more inter-Korean business if things go "well".

Because North Korea have so many other people they can sell their minerals to while under a international embargo right?

The biggest potential customer is right to the south. Plus all those Chinese deals were done before the ROK sanctions of 2010 following the sinking of the Cheonnan, beating out Korean bidders who were proposing much favorable conditions. There were already talks of Chang being a PRC lapdog back then.

Wait. Wait.

Last time I checked, everyone here is bitching about China trading with North Korea and "propping it up" when the "moral" thing to do was to stop trading with NK so it will collapse.

Now you are saying China shouldn't have "cheated" North Koreans for their "minerals" never minding North Korea/West Isolate each other through Sanctions, bombing, and terrorism.

So what? Nothing is stopping SK from trading with NK, Except you know, a sanction or two:

You are ignoring what I've been writing and throwing around irrelevant facts.

You are constantly pointing out facts that happened after the Chinese deals under Chang were made. The current sanctions have no influence on what Chang did which are a fundamental element in his dismissal and arrest, along with the rise of the anti-PRC faction within DPRK. If you're going to discuss something, please stick to the topic instead of moving the goal posts to irrelevant pieces of information.

From what I read off Chinese websites, Jang along with Kim are the 8 people that held Kim II's coffin during the funeral.

Most, if not all 7 (minus Kim III) are....liquidated already. And now IIRC they are converting Kim family to a monarchy now...not just a communist dictatorship. So unfortunately, I guess one of my uncles really died for absolutely nothing.

Even a monarch is nothing without a court...who's his court who gives him authority then?

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

The idea is to give positions of power to people he personally promoted. So they become "his" followers. And if they have no one but Kim3' support in keeping their jobs, they are unlikely to betray him.

Yes but why is his support seen as so substantial? What's stopping him from being nothing more than a convenient figurehead?

Marxist's Communism is myth. There is no such equality of wealth/income to all.

As Keyser Söze said, it is about being willing to go further and do what your enemies won't do. Kim3 has earned his dictator stripes by clearing away every single important man at his father's funeral. He is, right now, the last of the eight, and the winner of the game of thrones.
