Aparently the US government has gone insane.

We've got Mexican gunman shooting across our open border with Mexico at road workers, but we can't close the border or put troops there to stop the violence from overflowing into the US.

Yet a 9 year old kid is such a threat he isn't allowed into the country?

Well, not a threat to national security. But they're afraid he'll refuse to leave and instead suck at the teat of the ample welfare provided in the US. Or steal jobs. Or both. Yeah, I suspect some kool-aid was drunk.

Lots of kool-aid indeed. *facepalm*

This is fucking ridiculous.

Edit: Take it from someone who knows. I have drawn welfare in America, as embarrassed as I am to admit it; I had no choice, because the homeless shelter I had to use makes you pay rent (yeah, that's a head-scratcher right there) and I had no job. General assistance is hardly ample. Less than $300 a month. That's pocket change.

O-san, that had been the dream of many rulers throughout eras, especially when the Church was powerful in Europe. They couldn't, so they settled for second-best: getting the clergy/"faithful" to support their political causes. Disturbing thing is that many Muslim countries are now trying this, with very bad results.

Ban on women serving in American combat units lifted.

One wonders how this will turn out? I have a hard time imagining many long term female marines infantrymen...but I can see them in other combat positions that would be quite effective in this technological age.

My friends are the types of people that want to take welfare away completely, how bout' that? They don't seem to understand the basis of its purpose and that the only way it'll go down is if the unemployment rate does so as well.

They always complain about their family who's completely unemployed and never try to get a job, then continue having infants to keep the welfare a-flowin'. Don't you report that kind of stuff?
Oh right... They're family.

Well it is: but the control mechanism is actually the reverse in most country that do have institutional religions: States collect dedicated taxes, and redistribute the proceeds toward the recognized Churches.

That is true, but when said churches go out of line and demand more dough, the states feel that they had to get something back out of this "investment". Cue the political rallying and all...

I have always thought of women being better soldiers than men. Lots of patience, retain water and fight like mad dogs.

The main "logical" arguement I've seen against the idea is from Marines due to the weight of their equipment they need for field combat and the requirements of three or four weeks in the field with nothing but what you have on your back. Also the ability to move a fellow injured soldier with gear many kilometers to safty. (basically physical issues)

All other arguements seem to be old dogma or reactions from centuries of "how the world works" thinking. Some might be accurate, while others might be outdated due to training or technology overcoming old social issues (or biological ones).

One point that was brought up (aside that woman are already in the combat areas via loopholes, yet can't get combat pay or promotion even if they do serve in that capacity) is strictly cultural in the two main regions of combat now...Islam dominated regions..where the more strict areas, the male soldiers cannot get information out of local females (even if the female has the information and is willing to part with it) because they are not allowed to talk to males outside their own family (I ran into this doing Census work in California where I had to go back several times until the male was home even though the females of the house would have all the information the Census would require). Having female soldiers present would get around that problem.

I never knew about this guy until he was mention on the Daily show. I always thought the next Chairman was the lady with 15 guns but it went to the guy with a silly name.

I think we need to check his birth certificate. His name sounds foreign.

Wait?
What?
This guy Fuller was blaming the right for the shooting, then turns around and threatens a Tea Partier member with death after the shooting?

I think Eric needs his medicine.
