Why would anyone else besides Bush be blamed? I mean he's Bush, of course it's his fault. It's always his fault, no matter the issue, even when he's dead it will always be his fault. Bush is the worlds scapegoat and I intend to keep using him as such...

As John McCain says, BIOB.
As Jon Stewart says, BHWTWPIAH. (because hs was the worst President in American history.)

Well... will the US finally admit that there IS a red US and blue US and split into two? The red US can remain where it is, while the blue US can join Canada, returning to the Crown.

I dunno, but we'd better give the government unfettered power to censor the internet just to be safe.

And while they're at it they can stamp out all the Fractale fansubs.

Given who is our PM here, the red US would be more likely than the blue US to join Canada... we could separe Canada the same way than the US.

That's actually a good question, along with Nunavut, Yukon and the Northwest.
And I start to wonder if we need a new colour for Quebec.

But it's fairly accurate, population-wise.

Just another day in US politics.

Meanwhile, in the West's most violence-prone state...

Gerry Adams resigns as West Belfast MP
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-12246725

Quote:
Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has formally resigned from his Westminster seat in West Belfast.

Mr Adams is to contest the 11 March general election in the Irish Republic for his party in County Louth.

He had already stepped down as a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly and at the time said he would also resign from his Westminster seat.

He was replaced at the Assembly by former IRA hunger striker Pat Sheehan.

The party will now select a candidate to defend his West Belfast Westminster seat.

Mr Adams was first elected as West Belfast MP in 1983.

He lost the seat to the SDLP's Joe Hendron in 1992, but regained it in 1997 and has held it since.
Just a few things to note:

1. Sinn Fein has seats and offices in Westminster, but abstain from it. Given that with 650 MPs and 420 seats available in the physical chamber, it's a good thing.

2. Gerry Adams, the leader of the only party with its private militia, leaving Northern Ireland, where he brokered a peace deal between UK and the IRA, will likely cause some untowards things to happen in Northern Ireland. This is something to keep an eye on.

3. Given that the Fianna Fail(ure) and the Greens are set to lose the elcetion, but no clear winner, the Fine Gael party will likely look to Labour and Sinn Fein for a coalition agreement, which will empower Gerry Adams. It's something that worries me more than a little.

Well, we could always cut CA longitudinally, separating the coast from the inland.

The Chinatowns should just declare independence and take the port cities. Maybe the Bay Area and Irvine to East LA too.

The whole Bay Area could secede tomorrow. It would be a great idea.

I'd object to secession to China...or Canada...and especially Mexico. And don't think the majority of California's territorial landmass would agree to it either.

Besides...do you have any idea how big California even is? From the Bay Area one can drive for six hours north or south and not cross a state border. And with the mountains to the east is just seems like six hours to Nevada. We could practically secede and be our own country if it was legal and our politicians and activists hadn't messed up the state so badly.

Also, anyplace outside of the large cities will be "Red US". Outside Portland and Seatle? Red. And even in the cities, it isn't so clear cut.

That map is a load of bollocks.... as Ithekro notes.... the "blue/red" split is actually very splotchy within states. Color-filling an entire state is highly misleading if the state runs 49/51 either way all the time. There used to be a website that discussed the "metro"/"rural" split but it seems to have vanished a few years ago.

As for the rest of the conversation... there's been any number of science fiction books that speculate on the reformation of the North American continent by geo-economic zones or politics.

As for population trends... that sort of ebb and tide has been going on for thousands of years. We seem to have a pack of nimrods who think the world started and was perfected in 1955 and rend their garments to resist change.
