Netscape?
man I thought that brand is dead

anyways... my takeaway from that link

The Senate requires a quorum to take up any measures that spend money. But Republicans on Wednesday split from the legislation the proposal to curtail union rights, which spends no money, and a special conference committee of state lawmakers approved the bill a short time later.

Hmmmm. I'd hate to force a military solution in WI by way of the soldier's oath...to defend the Constitution against threats both foriegn and domestic. Wouldn't look too good having a State Legislature be classified as an enemy for breaking their own laws.

Who are they kidding?
I don't think any US politicians obey the laws anymore.
Both sides have an agenda, and they're sticking to it come hell or high water.

It's total Chaos!

now on to the Federal level...

GOP to introduce a new "pro-choice" bill

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), introduced the National Right to Work Act to “reduce workplace discrimination by protecting the free choice of individuals to form, join, or assist labor organizations, or to refrain from such activities,” according to a statement.

Seven other Republicans signed onto the effort:

Sens. Tom Coburn (Oklahoma)
.....Orrin Hatch (Utah)
.....Mike Lee (Utah)
.....Rand Paul (Kentucky)
.....James Risch (Idaho)
.....Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania)
.....and David Vitter (Louisiana)

“Facing a steady decline in membership, unions have turned to strong-arm political tactics to make forced unionization the default position of every American worker, even if they don’t want it,” Hatch said. “This is simply unacceptable. At the very least, it should be the policy of the U.S. government to ensure that no employee will be forced to join a union in order to get or keep their job.”

Republicans cited a recent poll they said shows that 80 percent of union members support having their policy and that “Right to Work” states outperform “forced-union” states in factors that affect worker well being.

Not on something like this. Expect the Republicans to be hit hard, and not just in Wisconsin. Especially if the procedures used to pass this are found to be illegal in court.

It is all a political calculation by the GOP. They are cutting down major sources of support for the democrat party in a systematic way. Acorn was their first victory and now they are going after unions nationwide, which is the biggest source of funding for dems in political races. They are doing anything and everything possible to weaken the democrats and they could care less about collateral damage.

Maybe, but look at how the Tea baggers managed to stay on point long enough to cause the election of these wacko's that are causing this clusterfuck in the first place. No reason us Liberals can manage the same.

Which is the next two years in American politics will be both horrifying (As the Republicans careen ever further to the right in blatant disregard to the american people and common political sense) and hopeful (As independents realize the Republicans for what they are as the Republican party annihilates themselves in orgy of extremism).

Its always morbidly fascinating to watch people that are most likely to be personally hurt, ruined, or killed by the very politicians they are rabidly supporting. Unless your name is Koch in Wisconsin, you took damage today from Walker's gang. Eisenhower's military-industrial message was almost on target, he just didn't grasp that the scope of the plutocrat's greed was far larger than just military spending. "Company Town" USAcorp.... meh.

To play devil's advocate, some have argued that this case of reform was necessary because public unions were equating themselves on the same level of private unions, which is seen as a fallacy.

Public corporations do not exist to make a profit and don't operate on strict market based logic and restraint. and when tied to governments can lead to situations in which (if they were private) corporations could become insolvent, therefore it's necessary to to get public finances in line with the "marketplace", especially to account for wasted money.
