Is there a term of art for someone who likes meganekko characters akin to terms like "lolicon?" I'm a big fan of girls-with-glasses as well.

The technical term for that would be めがね属性 (megane zokusei), or someone who is partial to glasses (wearers).

So "megazoku" then? Or maybe "megasei"? I just watched the Bakemonogatari episode where the origin of "Baruhara" is explained by Tsubasa. I thought maybe we could apply the same process to "megane zokusei" and invent a whole new word for the anime glossary. "Megazoku" has a certain zany character that makes it appealing.

"Zokugane" has a nice sound to it, too, but it doesn't convey the actual meaning very well.

I would rather not experiment with Japanese words too much. They probably already have their own version of this, but I'm too lazy to search NicoNico's dictionary wiki.

I don't know how seriously this show will take its plot (my guess: not much) but I wonder... Haru and Coco are fish, at least Coco is definitely a fish, and Haru seems to be one, too (afraid of cats, biting on the lure, etc.). It's a bit weird to see fish insist on making someone go fishing... never mind actually going fishing themselves. ^^;; Unless they're alien fish and don't regard Earth fish the same as themselves...

And I wonder why Haru was afraid of Akira. Or was it because of Tapioca? (Then again, do domesticated ducks eat fish?)

By the way...

Nah, it's more like "fishing ball" - the mental image I get is a float wobbling up and down on the water, but those are called differently in Japanese so it might be just a pun or something.

Maybe they're trying to fish their long lost dad

This.

Haak? You summarized my thoughts exactly.

And yes - the Indian with the duck is definitely my fave chara in the story.

It felt like the 12 cups of coffee the patisserie drank finally wore off and I am beginning to see what he is in the process of creation a little better. Well ... at least it looks like an object identifiable for human consumption.

Right, let's try this again...

Could be - I've seen those called both simply "garasu uki" (ガラス浮き) and "tamauki" (球浮き). Apparently regular ball floaters are also called "ukidama" (浮き玉/球/etc), so. But aren't these for net fishing? Yuki & Co. are doing angling... but I still have a hunch the title might have something to do with floats, simply because in my mind fishing + ball = float. Also, I did a bit of searching and apparently "tsuridama" (釣り球) is a baseball trick called waste pitch in English. I have no idea if the title of this show is a pun on this in any way (I know nothing about baseball)... but at least I've learned a new word. (And now my head hurts, and I feel like I just missed something hugely, hugely obvious.)

In the meanwhile, I love this anime. It's healing liek whoa.

Watched ep 1. Wow, colorful anime , i like it and it was hilarious too.
Yes it's weird but it's really interesting.
"A lot happened today" that summed up this episode
Looks like an underrated anime.

Ep. 3 -->

I have no idea what's going on, but at least it's damn enjoyable. XD
Spoiler for ep 3:

I hope that when this show is over someone will release a compilation video titled "Angling with Natsuki - Listen very carefully, I will only say this once.*" XD

*I keep expecting Natsuki to show up in a trench coat.

Kudos to the creators they manage to make fishing look more dramatic and interesting than it actually is.

Spoiler for speculation:

The fishing experience continues...
Practicing accuracy was fun to watch.
Yamada & his crew look like a fun bunch as well ^^
Yuki was feeling down 'cause of his grandma, but he persisted with his training.
Haru is just amazing with his ability to be so cheerful.

I... I...
Spoiler for Episode 3:

A few days earlier, I smiled at the glaring difference between the next episode summaries for both noitaminA shows (from a 2ch source summing up what I assume was inside a magazine). Apollon had like 10 lines of text describing the future events - Tsuritama had just 2. There's still little going on (once again, impression not helped by the fact that it follows a very condensed show), but this is really a lovely dose of fun every Thursday. Constantly increasing in accordance with Akira and Tapioca's screentime, too!

Are the three surfer girls the same trio as appear in the opening dance number? Is one of them the one on the bus in episode one? And are any of them the girl who works at the fishing tackle store? The girls are on screen so rarely that I haven't really sorted them out.
