Not sure, but if it helps preserve some puns etc that might be lost in translation, then I don't mind that being used.

Although, there's also the footnotes, so as long as I can find a way to know that the character just made a joke, I'm okay as long I can understand.

Is Korean system that different? So it's not only Oppa or Hyung? I think the Japanese also quite vary (Onii/Nii/Aniki/Aniue) with different honorifics like -San or -sama though.

Hey, here's a list for that (in Korean): 近親間呼稱法.

Besides Oppa, there are also Olabu-ni and Orabi. I have to say there's not much in variety and moe factor.
