Why can't it be like over here where not every artist is drawing porn just to get noticed? Looking at the big three publishers gives you a good impression of what the industry looks like in terms of LNs.
Fortunately for the rest of us, it will continue in this direction no matter how many times you wish otherwise

Deviantart is not the whole anime art community...

And why are you citing that place anyway may I ask? It seems now that you're blaming Deviantart for you having the opinion that recently artists draw porn to get in the industry, then saying you don't like that opinion. ???

As much as I find hentai gross, to be fair it is a good sign of a talented artist, so I can understand why those who draw it are commonly scouted.

I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't want to read a hentai with unrefined or unattractive artwork. It's a very important part of it after all.

If you're lucky, you get to work on some cheap and easy harem story where you draw simple things all day.

If you're super unlucky, you get to work on one of Kazama Kamachi's stories and die from exhaustion... But at least you'll be remembered as a hero lol !

It is the most popular spot for artists to get started, granted Pixiv may become a new outlet since it provides rather lax rules to what can and can`t be drawn.

But on why do I often cite that is mainly due to often checking out the artist Alley and how 95% of them are from DA, usually part of their commission rules are no porn. Thus I often lump DA as the place where artists are still rather conservative in most cases.

But there is also a reason why I am concerned about that is because Jump Editors are concerned about character designs, an artist who have very little experience in creating male characters will only work with what he feel is comfortable with. Sex sells of course, but in this case it seems like the issue is most artists are lacking in experience so far.
