Still stuck on the launcher, even after re-installing the game. Not exactly an encouraging start.

Edit: Finally solved it. Apparently Iobit keeps shutting it down. Had to uninstall Iobit before TERA could launch. Not a big deal, since Iobit was just a memory hog that didn't do anything Avast didn't do better anyway. Too late to do any gaming though. Oh well, still a full Sunday ahead.

Hi ppls, just dropping off another Tera PvP vid. This one has a heavier anime influence than my previous ones (and quite a bit longer too), enjoy:

Where are you from? NA blocks some countries, such as whole Asia .. So if you reside there, ain't getting in. Not sure if that error is related to that or completely something else.. You may want to try the forums for troubleshooting.

Should be able to uninstall it from the Control Panel, as usual.

Sigh, would be nice if they just give me an uninstall button in the folder... -_-

Right now I'm on the fence with two MMORPGs:

On one hand TERA Online, with it's addictive combat, but less than stellar questing and story telling element...

On the other hand The Secret World, with it's engaging quests and fresh story telling elements, but lackluster combat system...

I guess it boils down to which is the most important thing when it comes to MMO... Decisions decisions...

Well combat is what you generally spend the most time on in an MMO...

My guess that probably would be Blizzard's secret project [Titan] MMO

I've been complaining about this with MMOs for almost a decade now... its like everyone can get one or two things right but they intentionally faceplant on the rest. Frankly, I'd add EQ2's massive questing content, extensive emotes, and entire minigame of housing to the mix as well. Oh and AgeOfConan's chained dancing skills and LOTRonline's musical instrument playing.

Vexx, that would be the greatest game of all time

Tera Combat
TOR cutscenes
GW2 Living quest
EQ2 Massive Quest content
WOW Custom Gear
Warhammer PVP

Now the only problem is, who is going to be smart enough to put that one together.

hey guys, i was interested in this game for quite a while but i've got a few questions
1) True that asians can play on EU server?
2) Hows the payment method work exactly?
3) Comparing this and other mmos, which is more fun. (honest opinions)

1) I know there are country blocks.. not sure which ones are which though.
2) Its a standard subscription model --- monthly, bi-annual, etc. You supply plastic cash data of some sort.
3) I can't say its MORE fun than other mmos... but it has some aspects I find entertaining. Every MMO has flaws (as we're just discussing). I like the combat of Tera, I like the races. The questing is better than most asian source MMOs but bland compared to WoW or EQ. The instance dungeons are fun, but those will rapidly get boring if they have to be repeated eternally. The game is still missing a ton of features many find basic to MMOs in the roleplay factor (emotes, guild housing, housing, etc). The crafting is interesting but mostly useless until the top tier.

At the moment, if nothing changes, I figure its entertaining for 3-6 months if you try all the classes and enjoy roleplaying.

(note: I've played EQ2, EQ, Warhammer, Neocron, Rift, UO, Anarchy, EVE, WoW, and probably several dozen F2P asian imports so that's my comparison base)

Playing on an RP server I actually kind of like the "another cog in the machine" approach WoW took to questing, where you're just yet another soldier doing your job. Not a special snowflake hero.

Even TERA kind of does this a bit with the story quests, but they're fairly easy to ignore. I did all but one of the story quests on Aeriyn (granted I have not yet killed Kelsaik, but that's mostly because NOBODY EVER WANTS TO and I can't solo it)...

... but ICly Aeri is not the hero of Valkyon, has not killed any gods and has a personal story that's very different than what's actually portrayed. Having the game shoehorn you too far into a big epic hero role makes things kind of silly in terms of what you're paying attention to and disregarding for RP purposes.

When playing SWTOR this was less of an issue for me because I mostly played alone. It was basically a kind of crappy KOTOR3 for me, and I dropped my sub when the Knight story was over.

Er yeah, I loathe the "special snowflake" (rofl) mode of questing in MMOs when you're clearly not and you're clearly not actually affecting the world -- that's what games like Elder Scrolls are for.

I still want to know why I can't stick a jam pie in Samael's face -- as an Elin, I think his attitude just DEMANDS a jam pie in the face.

Oh and instead of FIXING the "/e" command so it won't spam during crafting, apparently they've just turned it off.... this does not give me warm fuzzies about their programming dexterity for simple chat tool stuff much less the more complicated whatnot.

They disabled the custom emote channel? x.x

I haven't logged in today yet because I've been busy with homework.
