Anime since 2009/good romance manga

I recently started watching anime again after running out of things to watch/not time to watch anything in early 2009. I also just finished ouran HS host club (manga) kaichou wa maid-sama(anime/manga to current) kimi ni todoke (anime/manga to current) so any good romance manga are also welcome(complete if possible).

  • any anime worth watching since winter 2008
  • deep/romance/plot twists/high action prefered but not necessary
  • please note if: sad ending/open ending/continued in manga

Favorite Anime
Code Geass
True tears
Ef (both)
spice and wolf
banner of the stars
natsume yuujinchou
kaichou wa maid-sama
Hunter x Hunter
D. Grayman
Romeo x Juliet
Denno Coil
DaCapo(All seasons)
Allison and Lillia
Full Metal Panic!
Pumpkin Scissors
Tsubasa Chronicles
Murder Princess

The list goes on but you get the Idea.

Edit: just saw this thread with the top anime of 2011 so i'll check those out but I still need 2009-2010

Cross game

spring 2009
Romance + sports (but really, there's people who didn't like baseball that have watched and enjoyed it) + plot twists, same ending as the manga.

+1 for Cross Game

It's older than your cutoff, but you should watch Nodame Cantabile. After that you should watch Monster.

There is clannad, it is a very good anime. very romantic, but at the same time extremely depressing.
there are also alot of ecchi mangas i know, but idk if you want ecchi.
but some good romantic mangas, but are ecchi:
My lovely ghost kana (itoshi no kana), about a guy who falls in love with the ghost who is haunting his apartment. (not as bad as it sound xD)
Ai Yori Aoshi, havent finished it yet, but so far it seems pretty romantic.
Those have all been completed

I started with Mahou's list for Spring, 2009, and came up with these:

Higashi no Eden
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0*
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt
Dance in the Vampire Bund
Hanamaru Youchien*
Arakawa Under the Bridge
Sarai-ya Goyou*
Senkou no Nightraid
Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei
Level E*
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica*
Hyouge Mono*
Showa Monogatari
Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san
Ikoku Meiro no Croisee*
Usagi Drop*

I haven't seen all of these, but I've included some that get generally positive reviews or are frequently mentioned here. Many of these are distinctly minority tastes. I don't watch ecchi shows or most shows with high-school settings, so they're not on the list. I used stars to designate ones I've seen and think are worth checking out first.
