As it is, we don't have an answer about Attack helicopter and Airplanes, except to say that they exist and that they are definitely in use. I wonder if Suzuki will actually develop on those at all, since he took significant effort to explain the academy ships.

(I will have that translated as I said)

I can't imagine how aircraft would be safe, unless the battle judging system just forces them to fly home after being ruled inoperable. That still doesn't help mid-air collisions, unless there is the GI Joe scenario and the pilots always manage to safely eject despite whatever damage happens to their aircraft. Which still leaves the larger problem of colliding with the ground, which I don't think can be helped by carbon lining.

Meanwhile, something else to confound the brain:

I'm going to ignore this extraneous material, because I'm beginning to think the people writing it were just letting themselves get carried away without necessarily realizing the potentially dangerous corners they were writing themselves into. Girls und Panzer involves tanks battles with girls using tanks from up to the end of WWII, with no infantry or air support and certain limitations that have mostly prevented them from killing each other.

And there are crazy-huge city-carrier ships the size of island-nations.

Speaking of which, I finally watched OVA 3. So, the entire crew is made up of students, not just most of it. And they're all under the authority of the student council. Ye gods. Somebody elect some extra secretaries to help those three out already, that's a hell of a lot of responsibility for just three people!

Actually, you see a row of people in front of them as they presented the Senshado video - that I think is the Student Council - the "secretaries" that you mention.

And there has to be a teacher somewhere, teaching them and stepping in in the last instance. There has to be

@Random Wanderer:
The booklets really go into a massive scope that frankly is overbearing for most. This worldview is very rich and require understanding of classical world history even. I feel sorry for the Japanese that have to read this and digest it.

So where are they the rest of the time? One would think if there were other members on the council they could have at least assisted in some of the stuff that happened outside of the battles, even if they didn't participate in senshado themselves. We saw the trio doing administrative work before. Hana even had to step in and assist because there was too much for them.

Worldbuilding is all well and good, but when I start seeing people mentioning attack helicopters in relation to senshado I get the inescapable feeling that someone, somewhere, was getting carried away, and the whole thing is either going to be declared non-canon, or just ignored.

I don't know, I get the same feeling from Little Army. At this point I'll consider only the anime as canon.

Yes, but they are doing administrative work on Senshado. If anything, it is probably our trio that's being a bit derelict in their regular duties (though of course saving the school is a primary mission) and everyone else is out chasing down the other work.

They didn't. They just said that tanks (topic of previous sentence) popularity is declining somewhat due to attack helicopters.

One might assume there are other parts of te student council that deal with the specific departments mentioned in OVA 3. Delegation is a wonderful skill to have, and given Anzu's personality and habits early in the anime, I suspect she is very good at giving other people jobs to do.

Little Army's canonicity (not sure that's a word, but whatever) got a boost from Miho and Maho's conversation after the final battle. They very clearly referenced something they had only discussed with each other in Little Army. Prior to that I would have agreed with you, and I certainly hold the anime as higher canon than the other manga.

Loooking at this, I guess you're right. Still looks like tons more work than they have people, but there are a few extras beyond just our three.

The thing is, the final exchange between Miho and Maho is a definite reference to Maho's talk with Miho in Little Army. Also nothing directly contradicts what we've seen so far (Shiho is serious, all-business, and pretty cold to her own daughters, Kuromorimine is really serious business), UNLIKE the actual Girls und Panzer manga.

If anything, the Yukari-narrated manga is something you might have to consider semi-canonical, ESPECIALLY since the Anzio battle in that one happens in a desert.

Random Wanderer: Heh, levels of canonicity in franchises is definitely a thing. See how Star Wars handles it via tiers (1-4), or how Warhammer 40k just ignores it most of the time.

I'd rank Little Army a whole lot higher on the canonicity scale though, as it actually reveals something not readily obvious in the anime.

The manga Anzio fight seems more desperate than the apparent results of the anime battle. The anime battle looks like a rout with all Ooarai's tanks intact and Anzio's in a pile.

The manga battle isn't as one sided, but still the contest is clearly in Ooarai's favor if you had an overall view, (which Yukari doesn't have since she's in the middle of things). Ooarai comes in with 6 tanks and only loses two tanks (a third is crippled but doesn't surrender), while Anzio losese 8 out of 10 tanks.

They already have, complete with their trademark punny synopsis

Well this is great news. Too bad they do so-so dubs or none at all, but that's not important to me that much. What I like about them is their speedy release, they retain the original JP credits, and they give us what we want.
