A quiet intra-club fixture at the start of the season this looks like to me. Two players just testing the waters and limbering up for the onslaught to come.

Seyuu-wise the senior combination result would be Nodoka-Shana (Ami K-Kugu) as you would cover the 2004, 2007, 2009-10 finals nicely and only eclipsed by a Tamura-Kugu final in terms of sheer win power.

Ever since late 2009 -- I have played about 500-550 rounds of mahjong via Tenhou.net. Add 500 more via against AI.

So fun, it's crazy.

Now, unfortunately, due to the lack of a mahjong base elsewhere, the Saki characters will not get any sort of similar support via ISML. If anything, they'll get rolled there.

Given the Saki domination this year, I have to wonder about future Saki performances. Next year, they'll definitely fall a little flat, as it normally happens. Then, there's Saki season 2 (if that ever comes out a few years ahead).

Only 370 people voted!?
This is the lowest ever for this year.

Nodoka won since she is more experienced.
After best friends, it is now a battle between sisters. I wonder this will be good like the 2008 final match between Kagami and Tsukasa.

I think there'll be more people voting if they didn't let finals become a Saki fest.

B/c, quite frankly, no one cares about all-Saki match, especially when it's between two equally likable (for the most part) girl with basically same strength...

Anyway, predicting a Dragon Lord win. As strong as Yuu is in terms of result and mahjong (but then, Yuu always have to pick up from the mess that Kuro left behind ), Kuro is still the "main" heroine (Okay, Toki Shizuno is). I think this match should get a little bit more vote than Saki-Nodoka, but probably not by much...

No surprises as to who the Bedlam on Baltic Avenue picked...

Spoiler for pick:

It's only fitting that the Dragon Lord is donned in a chinadress as her alternate battle outfit/online av garb.

Well it looks like the cattle prods have gone out across Japan and the voters are being led to the ballot boxes earlier today. Yesterday's effort was too 2003 for my liking as well. Hope this sister fight lives up to the ones we had in '04 (sorta) and '08.

Sorry Hachiko had the red-green of the tiles in my eyes there and was slower on the uptake than usual.

As has been the case for the other Saki intraseries matches, the vote total isn't very good. However, one of the characters still has to advance and Nodoka manages to reach the semifinals for a third time. She has a fair bit of trouble with Saki so she's going to be the underdog against Toki. I guess that applies to everyone left, though.

Following the Saki vs Nodoka showdown is a battle between the Matsumi sisters. While Yuu has been the better vote draw, it isn't by very much if you discard the outlier Round 1 result for Yuu. While I never expected her to be weak, Yuu turned out to be even stronger than I thought she would be at the start of the contest. She's probably not too much weaker than Kuro. However, she should be below Kuro in the Saki hierarchy so I can't see her winning. Kuro will be the 23rd straight win for Saki to break Madoka's previous record of 22 set last year.

Vote:
Matsumi Kuro

Prediction:
Matsumi Kuro

Pink-haired twintails girl wins over her female best friend with short hair. Yep, even the result mirrors that match alright.
Both matches even involve the titular character for its respective series! The outcome is switched for the titular character this time, though.

Nodoka now treads the path that leads to the new entrance Mami blasted open last year for girls of their... displacement everywhere. She's one step closer, but does she have what it takes to prevail against the new ace of her own faction? Percentage-wise, this was a close match; that's good. The new low for vote totals isn't.

My pick for today's match would be

Kuro Matsumi

For the HanaKana factor; and because I can partially relate to her reluctance to discard Dora tiles when I play Riichi Mahjong myself.

Hey, even Madoka had 371 voters on her side in the spiritual predecessor of this match last year. That really is a new low for this year.

2008 final match? What final match? I thought Saimoe was cancelled in 2008.
