Kimi no Iru Machi (GONZO)

Quote:
This year's 15th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine is announcing on Wednesday that a television anime adaptation of Kouji Seo's A town where you live (Kimi no Iru Machi) manga has been green-lit. Shigeyasu Yamauchi is directing the anime at Gonzo, and Reiko Yoshida is in charge of the scripts. Terumi Nishii is designing the characters, while Keiichi Oku is composing the music.

Seo launched the school romantic comedy in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2008 after ending his earlier Suzuka manga in the same magazine in 2007. The manga already inspired two original video anime volumes.

The story begins when a girl named Yuzuki Eba suddenly moves from Tokyo into the countryside home of a high school boy named Haruto Kirishima.

This actually sounds nice.

Gonzo... The name that just brings a smile to my face, in a nostalgic good meaning and in a present bad meaning.
Anyways, Gonzo + non-Original series = ...............

Hmm ... a series eh? There have already been some OVAs released.

Tbh the manga never really caught my eye ... and neither did the OVAs. But I will still be willing to give the series a try too. ^^

Hope they have a different cast of seiyuu :crosses fingers:

I dunno, just don't really like Nakajima as a seiyuu. I mean I didn't mind her as Ranka, but when it's pretty much the same thing with Ruri/Sazanka/Kaede/Eba, it gets tiring pretty fast.

Thing is, she can do better, as her Kasukabe this winter season is pretty darn good. But I bet if she gets Eba again she would do it the same as before, and I'd rather have someone else do it if it comes to that.

Still, glad that this series is getting an anime. Sure I am apprehensive not only about the cast, but also about the studio. Last one I liked was 2008's Special A (five years!), which IMO they got too much flak for, despite being very close to the manga until near the end. But still, better than no anime at all, IMO.

EDIT: WADAFUQ @ character designs. Who are those people?

Director: Shigeyasu Yamauchi.....

Well, that's going to be......interesting,Yamauchi hasn't done romance since Boys Over Flowers I think.

Chara designs already seem to have his touch.

I trust Reiko Yoshida when it comes to adapting the manga though.

edit: in case anyone needs a reminder on who Yamauchi is, he's the guy that brought you the (in)famous episode 5 and 10 of Shin Sekai Yori

It's alive (c)

I dunno there did Gonzo get all those funding but they already announced two new series and there are rumors that Ryo TV-special would be a promo for the upcoming series too. And I don't have all those hate people feel about Gonzo. They have good works and bad works same as most of the animation studios. And unlike most of you I liked Last Exile-2 the same as first one(the main charas were worser but it had much more unpredictable storylne and some great secondary cast).

As for the KNIM. I liked Suzuka despite all it's heavy drama so I hope I would like this.

Not particularly interested, but I hope they cut it when things seem to be concluding.

At the beginning of the previous decade, GONZO excelled above mastery making original anime series with both good animation and good storylines.

However, when it came to them adapting from manga to anime the results were blatantly disastrous more in terms of the characters and interpretation of the original story.
Hellsing, Full Metal Panic, Chrno Crusade, and among many others were flops to cite from above. I believe that only Saikano was the only adaptation that they not only made it to work but also made it right.

Nice staff but lolwat Gonzo.
And why are there prinnies on the picture ?
but we got a new Shigeyasu Yamauchi series ! I didn't expect this so soon since I remember someone reported that he apparently said during a talk live event that directing a whole TV series was too tiring after Yumekui Merry's semi-failure (he admitted the 2nd part was weaker).

He directed Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu OVA series some years ago which wasn't a high-budget production but has a pleasant atmosphere & visuals thanks to Yamauchi.

Don't forget Seto no Hanayome though it was Gonzo x AIC production and already a 6 years old production

I forgot Gonzo was involved in Special A... I didn't manage to finish the anime but it was decent.

Synopsis looks interesting, but the things that I heard weren't very good. As far the OVAs go, I watched the first one and it was so-so. Though the visuals looks awesome and I hope Gonzo will make a good adaptation of it although I'm still skeptical with it considering I have little experience with it.
