Looking for quality action/style or Comedy series.

Think I've ran out of anime to watch but I wonder if I missed out on a few shows the past few years. I'm looking for either a well developed action series like Fate/Zero, Madoka, Nanoha, FMA Brotherhood, Index etc or a romantic comedy series that focuses more on the Comedy like Hayate no Gotoku, School Rumble, Love Hina or even Action/Comedy like Infinite Stratos, Index, Negima. For action I don't mind what kind it is, as long as its diverse, thought out.

Here is what I've seen so far although it might be missing a couple series that I forgot to add. http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Sakome&show=0&order=1

Some shows I plan on watching but just haven't gotten around to yet.

Steins; Gate - Missed out on it when it was airing, is it really that good?

Seitokai Yakuindomo - Was recommended to me before.

Ano Natsu de Matteru - Another one that was recommended, I really don't know what this one is about.

Shows I DO NOT like.

Blatant Fanservice - Queen's Blade, Seiken no Qwaser etc. I don't mind some fanservice but that is just way too much.

Poorly made action (imo)- Regios, Symphogear. I'm sure theres others I've tried out but was disappointed at.

Never ending series - Bleach, Fairy Tail, typical shounen jump works. Only exception I MIGHT make is Gintama, heard it was hilarious.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Let's see what I have:

Action: Darker than Black, Phantom: Requiem of the Phantom, and Guin Saga.

Romance Comedy: Bakemonogatari and Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu.

That's all I can think of for now. What do you think?

I tried out Darker than Black but it kind of had a slow start so I dropped it due to other shows going on at that time. Think it's worth a 2nd chance?

I watched Bakemonogatari but just haven't gotten to the sequel yet. It was unique for sure due to Studio Shaft's style. Also tried out Nogizaka Haruka but it seemed kind of generic as much as I love Mamiko Noto's voice. Maybe I'll give it a 2nd chance too.

Darker than Black is slow, but the story gets more complex and interesting later on, at least to me.

Okay how about I recommend to you Vandread. It has action and comedy mixed with mecha elements. Does that do you justice?

I'm never really sure how much "action" is required in requests like these. That said, I'll suggest six shows not on your list:

Baccano!
(gangsters in Prohibition America encounter immortals)
Bakeneko and its sequel Mononoke (supernatural demon fighting)
Kurenai (16-yo boy with powerful fighting skills must protect a 7-yo girl)
Seirei no Moribito (spear-wielding bodyguard must protect a young prince)
Twelve Kingdoms (girl discovers her true role in life after being whisked away to a mysterious land; starts slowly; patience will be rewarded)

Since you have some older titles in your list, I'll also suggest Gunbuster and its sequel Diebuster.

Most of these shows have only occasional "action" sequences intermixed with drama, comedy, and slice-of-life segments.

I don't see Jormungand, Gunslinger Girl and Phantom:Requiem for the Phantom on your list. Apart from good action, these 3 animes also have well-developed plot with engaging characters, most especially Jormungand.
