well, it sounded convincing enough to me (the only weird thing is that I don't think the mangaka would something like that, calling a guy Haku because he is one... like calling someon Feg Git..)

Just getting one thing straight, maru doesn't mean male, it's just a suffix added to many male names. It doesn't mean anything.

yep, -maru is suffix denoting "being male." Kinda like, uh, -er is a suffix denoting "more," like stronger, faster, harder, prettier, manlier. The proof that -maru doesn't mean "man" is in Akamaru's name -- clearly that's a dog, and a cute one at that. ^_^

He didn't say the dog can't be male, he said that -maru can't denote being a man because Akamaru isn't a man--he's a dog.

ah I see the problem: somebody started using man instead of male somewhere, but meaning male, and then somebody else interpeted that man as male human. I think that's the problem, and in that case the previous few posts are useless...

you are the agressive one here... (f*cking...:fingers: ...blabla). In the past few posts, the word male and man have been confused, and that's why they don't make sense (if it's correct).

there.

does it get any clearer than that?

i think we have established that yashamaru is infact a guy, and maru is a male suffix.

Yes, Maru is a suffix for male names. It however does not mean male. Male is Otoko, noone try to tell me it means man. Man is actually Otoko no hito, but is often shortened to Otoko to make the sentences shorter. The only other thing I can reccomend is to find the original manga, and look at the sentence structure. Specifically the use of the word I. Find if she uses Watashi (neutral) Atashi (female) or Boku (male).

"male" or "female" would 've been enough...

wel reguardless, ill still call yashamaru a "her" until we do find out if its realy a guy.
it doesnt matter what gender she is anyways.

looks to me you are going to have a lot of time to refer to 'him' as 'her' then, cuz' now that he's blown to pieces, I think it's gonna be rather hard to specify the gender of the victim...
