I don't really get the point of this thread. Maddox's writings tend to be satirical and over the top. So why was this an example? Is it because he gets offended that people downplay math, or the article is offensive?

See, he does have a point beneath all the venom. When people fail at something, or don't care, they downplay it. They can't do math, so they trivialize it to something that's not needed. "Math is for nerds" "I don't need to know that". However, this is really just taking pride in ignorance in an attempt to protect yourself from feeling bad.

It's ok, to say that you have no interest in something, or that you're not good at something, but don't trivialize it. It's the same thing as saying people proficient in video games have no life, and that it doesn't help you. Sure, maybe, but it doesn't change anything. And nobody can have all the knowledge and skills in the world. Being deficient in something doesn't make you any less of a human being.
I know what he's trying to say, but all that colorful writing is getting the way. If he wants to deliver some kind of message the best way is to outright state it just like what you did here. If he did that then maybe people would 'see the light' instead of totally missing the point and getting mad about it.

Often times he laughs at people who send him hatemail but really it goes both ways, did he just want them to get mad or was he trying to say something meaningful? Hell if they know, all you can see upfront is hateful drivel...regardless of what he really means he's not helping anyone to 'get it'.

In other words, he's every bit a moron as the people who send him hatemail and likewise I'm a moron for caring but that's how it is...nobody wins.

Ho boy, this one never fails to amuse me.

A: Hey, your mother is a **** who **** that **** and **** with **** ***********
B punches A.
B immediately gets suspended from school.
Most likely without B getting much say about it.

Though I have to say, I only know this as a trope. Does this really happen irl? These societies might just as well teach the kids "if you're bullied, suck it up, you're screwed."

It happens. Though, to be honest, it's probably a good lesson. There is no justification for violence. Instead you need to learn to respond in civil and measured manner.

In my experience, it's as Hasumi says, usually both B and A are gone.

Though for a first offense it's usually just detention and a phone call to parents, not suspension.

I could be wrong, but I think most boys get into fisticuffs at a certain age.

I got into something of a fight once, while on a school bus. Though I was technically the first to escalate it to a fight, I did not start it and had no other option of leaving the vehicle. Luckily, the bus driver either did not see or didn't care, and the event transpired without further problems.

It later occurred to me that had any disciplinary action been taken, I could've been the only one punished even though it was not my fault.

The guy who wrote the article in the OP isn't to be taking all that seriously. It is just his crass sense of humor. I don't find it funny, though. I just find it irritating and obnoxious.

I doubt he is being completely serious, and if he were being completely serious with that rant, than...wow, that is one sad, sorry guy. But I don't worry about that. I really think it is just his over the top, obnoxious sense of humor at work there.

You are right. In his FAQ he (sort of) addresses this. I find it funny but I can see why some people would take issue with it.

Don't really know what his comedy routines are like.

The thing with the guy from that website is that I think he goes overkill with his sense of humor. Maybe it'd be amusing if he took it down a couple of notches, but it is just so venomous that for me I just don't even find it funny.

To draw a comparison, his style sort of reminds me of Tetra Vaal...for those of you lucky enough to remember him.

hahaha thick skin.......i think i have it....suffered some heavy shit while i was little, i was bullied at school...i never got into a fight in my life. i kinda like was a pacifist....

i say i was because nowadays i am waiting for an unlucky bastard to piss me off so much that i will not hold back beating him, calming myself i the process....

i feel sorry for him ..but this is life... you messed with the wrong one and you hit the jackpot... i mean the jackpot hit you......

but unlucky me.....nowadays no one seems to be wanting to piss me off......well now i have to find myself a stress toy or something......

all this anger needs to be channeled out or i will become a big green monster.....and you don't like me when i'm angry........

lol.. this just calmed me down even further......i guess thick skin with a sense of humor can do miracles :P

^I was bullied once in Jr High. I punched the bully in the face.
He was a Judo club sub-captain. Didn't work out too well.

Then in highschool, a dick kept harrassing me. I turned around punched him in the face in front of his girl.
This dude wasn't a Judo club member. Worked out fine and beat his face into the ground.

*smug*

Of course, these were more than 20 years ago. I think people make a fuss out of boys gettin' into fights nowadays.
We got sissified.
