I liked her first couple of singles but the rest fell off a cliff into a bottomless pit for me.

I like her stuff. The last thing I heard from her was "Be the One" and that was pretty cool. I liked "Shine We Are", "Still my No. 1" and "Valenti" also.

I agree. Some indivdual songs are good but as a whole it sounds too much like the crappy American pop I'd have to hear if I ever listened to the radio anymore.

However, the OP to Lain remains my favorite song of all time.

I think Boa is pretty good. She has a great voice and some really good songs. I think what makes most people get turned off is that she seems to change her style all the time to what is most popular at the moment. For example, some of her earlier cd's were pop. But her latest one, Love and Honesty, had some RB stuff and pop/rock.

I also don't really care for the fact that she was basically primped and primed to be a singer since she was a little kid. The company that found her, found her only cause her older brother was making a name for himself. They had her learning japanese and english at 11 so that she could be a like a Asian Idol. Boa was basically "manufactured". She has a lot of talent, but I think I would appreciate her more if she had been discovered through some other fashion. For example, look at the artist Nami Tamaki. She auditioned through Sony I believe, and her tape was picked from the 5000 tapes they had recieved. When you're that 1 in 5000, it shows that you truly deserve the fame that she is now recieving.

The OP theme to Lain is done by a british band named Boa, not BoA the asian star.

Hehe, I made the same mistake when I first heard the song.

Well that explains the enormous difference in styles. I just figured the Japanese Boa used to be good.

She's alright, I think. Has some great talent. But her style is a little too Western for my taste. I don't listen to Japanese pop music so I can hear American style pop. I listen to Japanese pop for what it's supposed to be, which is Japanese style pop music

BoA is alright. She has some great songs like BoA - Be the one. Other than that, I would rather listen to Ayumi Hamasaki.

Same here, her music isn't really what I call amazing but rather reasonable, and yeah "Be the One" is one of her only good songs that I like to listen.

She's alright...too poppy/R&B-ish for me though (same reason why I find Ayumi Hamasaki > Utada Hikaru).
