Question I need a player that can play "Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito"

Can anyone tell what software that can play "Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito"? The files are MKV I think.

Read the Media Configuration Guide post. You'll need MatroskaSplitter and VSFilter (don't know if the yamibo files were hard- or softsubbed, but might as well mention this just in case).

Alternatively, use Media Player Classic or Videolan.

I never tried playing that series, but I also would suggest downloading the video lan player. I have had problems playing stuff for a long time with codecs overriding each other and such until someone suggested this player. Since downloading it, I have been able to play 99.8% of my fansubs without any problems.
