Wonder if they'll release the Star Wars Holiday Special for Christmas?

Considering how bad it is, I doubt it.

Let's be honest, the prequels do have a lot of flaws, but they aren't bad movies. Okay, maybe the first one isn't so great because the pacing was almost as slow paced and wooden as the child actor for Anakin. But still. Even with better casting choices, better directing, and a tighter script, there's no way the prequels would have ever matched the hype created by decades of waiting for more Star Wars movies.

I also take issue with the stubborn attitude taken towards re-releasing the OT, remastered but otherwise untouched, whenever a new movie format comes out. Fans shouldn't have to petition to get both the Special Editions and the Original Editions released. It's silly.

Like all franchises, Star Wars has hits and misses. Movies, books, games, you name it, there are good and bad from the license. It's really no different than the other modern day sci-fi mega franchise Star Trek. Both have produced moments of incredible storytelling, and both have produced some of the most embarrassing crap ever seen. All I know is that Episode 3 still commands one of the most heartbreaking sequences in movie history with Order 66, on par with Spock's death. The needs of the many....

Just be happy it's Disney. People are still stuck in the "Disney is for kids" mentality, but the reality is they're now one of the largest media giants in existence today and they command a huge number of brands under their umbrella that are managed well. It's certainly better than letting the brand languish in legal hell with projects waiting in the wings that will never see the light of day.
Thank you.

But I do think that we fans should still get an original cut version of the first film. The "Han Shoots First" version. It might not have been as bad if the effect at least been well done, but it's so obviously a post-production camera tweak that it's irritating. I still believe that the original version was more true to Han's character at the time (his moral stance is supposed to be initially ambiguous until the very end of the movie) and is a legitimate complaint.

While I liked MOST of the changes from the Special Edition, such as the wonderful facelift and visual cleanup, some things DIDN'T need to be added, such as Jabba being in Hope and the weird (though admittedly entertaining) song sequence from Jedi. Most people can agree that most of the changes in the Special Edition were in fact an improvement, such as the ending for Jedi (which was our first look at Coruscant on film) and opening up Cloud City in Empire (which before felt restrictive and claustrophobic).

Well I did like the animated short that introduced Boba Fett. And despight Clone Wars, I'd love to see a hand drawn animated Star Wars series based in the original characters.
Just like the old Saturday morning Star Trek series, but with better graphics.

Well, I think it's safe to say I never imagined I'd hear this news.

To think the day would come when we'd be living in a world where Episode 7 of Star Wars was suddenly a real thing.

It's trippier than a...well, than a Disney acid sequence

The issue with the prequel trilogy vs the original that I realise now but did is a kid is that they essentially opted to make it about a really shitty awkward romance instead of a coming of age epic. That and just its really hard to find a character at all likeable or relatable in the prequels. The absolute closest anyone probably comes is Obi-Wan and even then much of his interaction with others is either whining, pleading or snarky condescension.

As for the franchise itself, after having it all but crammed down my throat for most of the prior decade I'm just kind of indifferent to it now. Like it just doesn't mean anything to me anymore after seeing its logo plastered on just about everything possible, its just a brand and one that is very hard for me to attach any particular feeling to and I doubt that I'm the only one that feels that way either.

I can picture it now, an exiled princess escapes to a backwater planet, and has to choose between a dashing young Jedi and a bad boy Sith Apprentice.

No matter how many times I see this, I still love it. Maybe it's because it actually shows competent tie fighter pilots?

Guys, at least Disney doesn't make Twilight movies.

You have to be grateful for that.
