And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you do a first episode.

While I have to admit I did wonder where the giants got their hair cut and if there's a giant hairdresser why isn't there a giant tailor, the show certainly gave you everything you needed to know about the setting in its first episode.

At the ending, there was this really palpable sense of terror and impending doom.

Am impressed, this episode really grabbed me.

That was absolutely fantastic. You could feel the dispair in the air right there at the end and I feel that
Spoiler for spoilers:

I also don't get all the hate for the OP. I find it powerful enough for what the show appears to be.

This is a top contender for show of the year I reckon.

There's a lot of plot that will made everyone rewatch the whole scenes/anime again for those who have never read the manga. Its really really good so please pay attention to details on the characters as they will give hints on something really big and sinister in the upcoming episodes.

Wow.

If you'll excuse me, I just need to pick up...everything. As opening episodes go, that was something else.

It's definitely the best looking show of this season (so far).

The only quibble I had was he should have mercy killed the mother.

How many episodes is this? Trying to get a handle on how much of the manga this is going to adapt.

Edit: Someone looks to have said it's 2-cour. So, excited.
Its probably going to be a multiple-cour series depending on pacing. There's already enough material for 52+ eps. and judging by this first episode, they're not going to do the A-1 "magi treatment" here, it looks like everything is going to be included.

Kinda impossible to think that this will become multiple-cour series

13 books (Part 1 + 2) of Jojo were animated within 26 episodes with reasonable pacing

With mixed pacing, 25 episodes of Chihayafuru managed to cover ~9 volumes

there are only 8 volumes and ~43 chapters of SnK out there, so if we are gonna have another season after 2 cours series (which will probably cover everything),

we're probably gonna need to wait for a few years (~3 years) before there is enough material to make another series

This anime looks great. The animation is top tier
The OP is epic, both the song and the visual. It seems we will have large-scale battles in the future. Can't wait for that.

If there is a complain, then it is about that kid. He should stop yelling at anyone who disagrees with him
I also don't like how they put the scene where the titan appears in the beginning. It kind of like a spoiler. The scene lost its impact when they show it again later IMO.

ahh forgot about that! Hmm.... if you put it that way I'm guessing it'll probably stop at the point where it is now since its around a good spot for a cliffhanger give or take a few chapters.

they could stop it at the 2 cour, and then start it up again, kinda like azazael san.

The series is 25 episodes long. 9 DVD/BD volumes, 2 episodes each or the first two volumes, and 3 episodes each for the rest.

Oh.... DAMN! I have honestly... No words to express the first episode... Or the opening.. I'm simply going to give claps here...

DESPAIR

That's what I felt from this episode and from the opening, nothing but despair.

I'm up to date with the manga but...damn, this was brilliant.

Given the nature of this series, seems like getting the BD editions would be worth it.

Also, anyone else here rooting for the giants? lol.

The premise of the show is really out there and completely unrealistic. The show is really good so far though. They've done a good job at creating a truly terrifying enemy, not a lot of anime manage this.

Yosh! Now that gives us more material to speculate with!

The titans resembling humans makes everything so much creepier! Certainly the best pilot of the season though oddly enough not my favourite. It's not my genre and I do shy away from gore.
