That was a great episode. Gin no Saji to me is like a good, dependable friend who you know will come through in the end. So no matter what kind of a season Winter 2014 will be, I know I can depend on Gin no Saji for quality.

second cour episode 2

Did our clueless MC just get friendzoned by Mikage? Isn't it one of the tell-tale signs when the girl tells the guy what a "nice person" he is?

At least this is now not the only show this season that is relying on the annoying and clichéd plot device of a "mysterious secret" to further the story along. Hachiken was still clearly upset at the beginning of the episode, though by the end he had other worries to occupy his mind.

Mikage's been saying since early on that he reminded her of a horse. Among other reasons because he was nice.

The question is, how much does she like horses, really?

Very funny episode. My favorite joke was Hachiken saying the dog learns faster than Tokiwa

Hachiken is a really great guy, the kind of person everybody would love to have as a friend. He's nice to a fault. Unfortunately for him, being nice is not enough to win a girl's heart.

I like that Hachiken's kindness is regarded as dependable, and people recognize it, and in turn also treat him well too.
There's a lot of series where it ends up backfiring on the character, and everyone just uses him as a rug and take advantage of him.

Nice to see a series where everyone isn't scum lol.

Nice that Hachiken has a new animal to care for that this time won't be sent off to be turned into food (unless the series changes countries when I'm not watching ). Though they did keep it realistic with the costs involved.

Hachiken really needs to be careful that his kindness doesn't get him seriously hurt down the road. Painful collision there when trying to 'save' Komaba.

This episode reminded me I have to make an appointment to get my cat his rabies shot.

edit: I am really glad I was not eating during this episode. Silver Spoon usually makes me hungry, this one had the opposite affect with that cow scene.

Well, you have to admit the dog's a lot cuter than Dick Cheney.

I'm actually surprised it's taken this many episodes (counting the first series) for a scene where someone has their arm stuck up a cow.

Nowhere close to the record held by "All Creatures Great and Small".

Yes, well "All Creatures Great and Small" set the benchmark for TV shows showing a man with his arm up a cow. Good old BBC!

Hachiken must feel like an idiot for trying to save Komaba only to injure himself instead.

Episode 3: Enjoyed it way more than the two previous ones, fun as they were. What really hits home, for me, is when there's an apparent lesson by the end of the episode - something I found quite lacking. I felt a slight agitation prior to this episode, possibly because Hachiken's actions felt excessive and unnatural - ether too nosy (episode 1) or too caring (episode 2).

That being said, I do hope they add a goal of some sort, as the story seems to be wandering aimlessly at the moment. There's events happening but no clear drive. But there's plenty of time for that.

But that's exactly the point. The story is about a young(kind) boy who wander aimlessly without purpose after he failed once in order to find his purpose. It supposed to make you feel like the story is womdering aimlessly, because that's what Hachiken feels currently.

I think it safe to assume what caused Hachiken's nervous breakdown from this episode. Still immensely enjoyable; this show.

Mikage was pretty cute when Hachiken pointed out her accent.
