The German Military, has to spend forever with the damn buildup. Not like they couldn't have just killed him with their portable lamps instead of spending forever moving their damn cannon into position .

The backstory kind of failed to pull me in though. I mean really if Jojo's father had bothered to learn the Ripple from say, his wife then he wouldn't have been killed. It's all kinds of stupid to say that the best thing to do is not tell Jojo anything growing up. After all it's not like that strategy actually worked for his father. It seems like the only thing differentiating Jojo from his father was that he wasn't told about his mother and that he was talented enough to figure out how to use the bare minimum Ripple on his own.

Rather than a twisted family legacy, just seems like a lot of stupid decisions. Keeping Lisa Lisa's identity a secret from Jojo because you don't want him involved with the ripple is just silly. That's the very reason his father died.

On a side note, great job as usual by Jojo finding a way to survive that situation. At least he was on the ball in this episode.

This week's JoJoRadio's guest was Toru Okawa, who is the narrator of the series. He analyzed that Okitsu (Jonathan) did well among all the veterans such as Koyasu (Dio) and Shioya (Will.A.Zeppeli) in the part I. With a similar set, Sugita (Joseph) struggled at first among another set of veterans like Inoue (Cars), Wham (Otsuka) and ACDC (Fujiwara), eventually managing to establish his version of Joseph. Unfortunately for Sugita, however, it's always Imaruoka (Stroheim), who ends up stealing the show. I think this episode turned out another such example. His ability to be able to act even in falsetto seems to be quite a rare trait as a voice actor.

Another aspect of this animalization is how the chemistry between the scriptwriter Yasuko Kobayashi and Araki would work. Kobayashi is known for well-themed characterization while they tend to be so-called emo while the characters in JoJo series tend to be decisive either they are considered as good or evil. At the same time, I also wondered how much Kobayashi could add to the few female characters in the earlier JoJo series (Kawasumi (Elena) did a remarkable job so far partly because she is another great fan of JoJo series. Okawa even describes her as a "mother" of this adaptation, by constantly encouraging and/or putting pressure on other voice actors). As I expected, Kobayashi tried to wrap some odds ends by adding more to Lisa Lisa related episode while making the story bit sentimental. The reason why she did it through the interaction between Speedwagon and Smokey is, probably, that, in Araki's works, there are almost always a certain characters who play as narratives and add emotional content to the main characters who are engaged in actions rather than looking back.

In any case, Lisa Lisa's DNA of liking bluffing and being unstoppable when enraged, seem to run steadily in blood of her descendants.

Wrong. The anime clearly said he had the potential.

More likely reason George II never learned the Ripple is because everybody thought the vampire threat was over.

The reason they kept Joseph out of the loop is also probably a similar reason to why a woman whose husband and child died because of ties to the mafia wouldn't want her grand child to have anything to do with the mafia family. Though fate have a different say about the matter.

Erina's decision makes sense to me. If she had told Joseph about his legacy, he would have definitely wanted to know more and would have eventually gotten involved with the ripple and vampires. No matter how you look at it, fighting vampires and pillar men is more dangerous than leading a normal life. Keeping him in the dark might have kept him safe if Joseph hadn't inherited the ripple from his grandfather (Straits would have had no reason to come after him).

You can also argue George died because he had been told about the vampires and zombies. If he had never heard of them, he wouldn't have found out the truth about his superior and wouldn't have been killed. And it's not like knowing the ripple makes you invincible.

And if he had been trained then he would have had a good chance of surviving. Or at least managing enough of an escape so help could take care of the problem. It may not make you invincible, but it certainly gives you a better chance of survival.

And besides, Jojo was allowed to know about Vampires. He was even told exactly how his grandfather was killed.

It makes the whole decision completely stupid. Jojo's father dies because he doesn't have any training in the ripple and/or because he was told about vampires. So hey let's tell Jojo about vampires, but not give him any training whatsoever in the Ripple, exactly like this father. But let's go a step further and tell him nothing about his parents....yeah, that's a brilliant strategy.

Joseph didn't have any training either, it's just that he's more streetsmart and uses Hamon better than his dad.

How would have they known that one of Dio's underlings is still on the loose? They assumed that Dio would be no more of a menace since Jonathan have taken Dio with him and they smashed the Stone Mask

Only after Erina found out Straits had killed Speedwagon and was after Joseph did she tell him. He was completely unaware of his legacy before that. At this point he was involved whether Erina liked it or not, so she had no reason to keep hiding that from him.

Now, she could have told him about his father at the time too... no idea she they didn't.

Probably cause it would bring him unnecessary grief.
I mean it's enough to know Good ol' Uncle Speedwagon had supposedly died, no need to add more.
That and recalling her own son's death would be too much for a old widow like her.

Another splendid crazy episode. The cinematography is so good in this series. It's such a shame that it's the last ep next week. :/

Spoiler for future link:

some fun surprises in this week's OP

Car's new powers were really impressive.
Guess becoming the ultimate being has its benefits ^^"
He's pretty much invincible..
That's doesn't leave Jojo with many options.
It's like his new form just keeps adapting to every kind of attack.
Stoheim proved himself to be useful once again.
Wonder if that volcano will be enough...
