For reasons unknown, even to me.
I like Claymore (more than manga than the anime) but I can understand why and how people hate it.

I agree 100% with this statement. Seriously, they're doing just about everything wrong. I swear, the only thing that will make me buy that show is if I find it in a bargain-bin and just happen to have a lot of money to spend or a gift-card that I don't know what to do with. The first Naruto-series before the fillers started wasn't too bad though. Still overrated, but at least it was WATCHABLE back then...

I completely agree! Completely!! Naruto Shippuden somehow lost what made Naruto fun for me. Not that I really understand what made it fun for me... It was the first anime I ever saw, so I thought it was really awesome and everything. But then I saw Shippuden and I silently cried for the poor fools who watch Shippuden only because they liked the original Naruto series. Now that I've seen a lot of anime, looking back, Naruto kind of sucked too. WWWAAAY 2 many fillers. Especially since I forced myself to watch about 20 eps. a dayyyy... And some emotional aspects of it were kind of stupid too. What the characters were crying about should have been worth crying about, but somehow, these parts made me laugh at their stupidity instead. (Perhaps I have strange taste though, Tsukuyomi Full Moon made me cry every episode even though most of it wasnt even sad)

Bobobo(on and on) just looked stupid to me. Mindless...

D.N. Angel was a fav of my friends, and I just did not understand why either. Probably because the characters were so young, and I didn't really get the plot. Not that I finished the series... That's the only series that I really started watching that I never finished. (gives me the chillls) I understood what the whole story was about, I guess, but never why I should care! I mean shouldnt an anime draw you in and make you actually care about what happens to the character? Its for your enjoyment!!

Ai Yori Aoshi made me so mad I wanted to kill the computer through all 24 episodes. (luckily i finished it in two days, start to finish.) This probably was just due to my taste, though because I realllly wanted Kaoru to end up with Tina. Or basically anyone other than STUPID AOI! I don't like shows with perfect people. Perfect people do not make an interesting story! They make a perfectly boring story! And everything was extremely predictable, there was practically no suspense, a little perverted humor here and there was the only enjoyable part of it. (not that im a pervert, the story line simply didnt entertain me.) Kaoru freaked out at like every little sign of romance, its a ROMANTIC COMEDY!!! I expected more ROMANCE!! and The show was completely generic, just like every other harem except they took out the wonderful part of harem, THE CHOICE!! THE GUY IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE TO CHOOOSE BETWEEN TONS OF WOMEN!!! But noooo he started and ended with Aoi. Sure there were tons of women who all lived in the same house as him (sounds interesting, perfect opportunity to make a great story out of betrayal!) But they were friends for life. GRRRR.... totally didnt live up to my friends recommendation. I guess its not the most popular thing, but it was enjoyed by my friends surprisingly.

I'm verry sorry for ranting, but I really feel that way about the show. And I did give an explanation y i hated it...

I am about to watch Onegai Teacher, so I'll take the advice I read on this thread and not watch Onegai Twins. Hope that lives up to the hype. I hoooopppee.....

Let's see... DN Angel's anime storyline did not end with the anime. It is continued in the PS2 game. Yes, it's a money-making scheme (and I've never played the game myself), but you might want to check it out.

Also, DN Angel was highly rated because of two kids: Irino Miyu and Miyamoto Shunichi (who sang some songs for the series).

As for AYA, read the manga. It gives a much convincing explanantion of why Kaoru gets Aoi in the end. Besides,
1) Chika-chan with Kaoru? I'm getting attacked by Pedobear there.
2) Tina with Kaoru is plausible. Just didn't work out.
3) In the manga, at least, Aoi isn't perfect. She does get jealous with the other girls.

Saikano comes to mind. A lot of people seem to like it, but I find that most of the sadness is forced, which doesn't really make me sad.
Spoiler for minor saikano spoiler:

Naruto Shippuden, like what some people have said. Naruto episodes before fillers were great and I couldn't stop watching it once I started. Shippuden doesn't have the "emotion" that Naruto had, it just has more action.

Rahxephon seems to be widely enjoyed, but I can't seem to watch past the first episode.

Well written, it saves me having to type a lot.

Pre-time skip Naruto was such a great anime, watching Naruto face interesting challenges, dynamic characters, and watching the characters develop, I especially liked it when Naruto always pulled something off even when it looked so hopeless.
Now it's just generic shonen.

Sorry, but I lol'd.

Meh, the only thing that comes to mind is some of Ghibli's stuff.
Apparently, my taste isn't refined enough to appreciate it, though.

Most of the Bones stuff I've seen I also can't seem to appreciate as much as everyone else, either, though I don't hate any of them.
Random examples:
Fullmetal Alchemist was a good series, but it seemed like a typical shounen (non power-up), though it stood out above the rest.
Soul Eater really is just typical shounen power-up.
Stranger -Mukoh Hadan- was a good watch, but it had a trite story and situation, though the production values were amazing and the final swordfight was well, the best I've seen.

Of course, that's almost all I've seen of Bones.

Well, simply because her body happens to suit the weapons system. The damn thing doesn't work on any Tom, Dick and Harry (as the OVA also explains).

Try Ouran, maybe? And no, I don't think you're alone on Ghibli. While I can understand why people give thumbs up for Grave of the Fireflies, I personally don't have the same feel.

the malchenholy of suzumi haruhi I don't like. the concept was cool but i didn't ike the characters. haruhi got away with everything she did. i personally feel really bad for the computer club president. i think haruhi would have been more tolerable if she actually got punished for doing things wrong.

asuka from evangelion, i liked. she was pushy stubborn and self-centered. the difference with her is that, one, she had a fragil soft side and, two, she got herself in trouble alot and was punished for it. that made her an injoyable character.

I know this is going to sound showmanistic, becuse i am a guy. i've always found it cute when Tsundres with large Egos get themselves stuck in a corrner becuse of there pride. they look so cut when they try to defend the position.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, but why and how would the military even make a weapons system that only suits a single high school girl. I'm not dismissing what your saying. I watched the OVA, but still didn't understand why she was selected. Maybe I should watch it again and take notes lol

back on topic,

Another series that everybody seems to like, but I'm not too fond of is Shakugan no Shana II. I've watched 9 episodes and it is kind of boring compared to season 1

If the military knew that their weapon would only work if equipped on a high school girl when they built it, they would be retards.

Nah, you're all right, Shakugan no Shana Second just wasn't as good.

I'm thinking that the weapon system isn't something purely mechanical. It reminds me of the "tech-organic" stuff at the end of the Beast Wars saga. The pills which Chise had to take seems to support the theory. The thing chooses its host, and the military was never able to bend it to their will (also probably why they didn't mass-produce the thing. Then again, with its power, a mass of them....).

As I readily admit, Saikano had plenty of plotholes (How did the war even begin, for Haruhi's sake?). But, this one didn't bother me much.

I really hate Hayate no Gotoku
I think the story was really too monotic

But in the end (bout half of the episode) I began to like it

Slightly-off-topic: Elfen Lied I cannot say I hate it... I just don't want to watch it, it's gory and too dark. The real world already shows it's too many dark sides, which is enough for me. Watching Elfen Lied would probably temporary depress/affect my happy way of thinking.

On-topic: School Days ... dropped it after episode 2... it's ridiculous. . I want my 40 minutes of my life back !

From what readers of the manga have said, it seems to NOT have typical shounen power-ups, so that may have been a pre-mature judgment/statement. I myself don't read manga, so I wouldn't know.

From just six episodes (I don't feel like continuing.), it's clear that the kids have a lot of power but can't quite "control" it or whatever term you choose, so they'll quite surely power up and be able to do so sometime.

EDIT: Oh, and the whole premise is a bunch of kids trying to become stronger, isn't it?

Surprisingly enough, I found Genshiken to be absolutely mediocre in every sense of the word. A large part of the reason for that was simply because I could not just identify with the characters. Most of the scenes just simply weren't funny and more often than not, they displayed errant behavior that I found to be fairly distasteful. While they do represent various types of fans, none of them represented the anime hobby in the manner that I've been treating it, that is, more of a journalistic, critiquing approach than the active convention-goer/cosplayer.

From those who've enjoyed it, they told me that I sorta have to be able to identify with the characters or know people who are like that to be able to appreciate it. Guess that's where the problem lies.
