That's all fine and dandy...but since you seemed to be asking this:

I was supplying a possible answer, if it wasn't a rhetorical question.

Lol I personally enjoy Inuyasha but I respect people who don't-it gets tiresome, the whole routine. It didn't need to be nearly half as long as it was.

Yep, I was never able to actually finish the first season. But I read the whole manga, and really, it was long and tedious. I liked how it started, but then it got boring and repetitive, at one point it seemed to me that the point of the story was to upgrade the sword!
It would have been better with a shorter story.

LOL, I thought that too. Sadly there was no real character development.

Darker than Black and Fairy Tail. I tried to get into both of these series...but I just couldn't like them.

I can understand Darker than Black but Fairy Tail? I thought that it was one of the more likable shounen shows.

Well, I'm rather tired of the really long going Shonen series - I used to watch Detective Conan religiously (one of my first true animes), and then I watched Bleach...it's just same shit, different toilet.

So when I started Fairy Tail, I just couldn't get into it. I like Aya Hirano as a seiyuu as Lucy, but everything else was just too similar/boring.

I really don't know why I couldn't get into Darker than Black, I really should try it again sometime...the whole romance in the beginning with the pink haired girl and the protagonist was just kinda boring to me. :/

I watched FT until episode 10 but couldn't really get into it much either. It was an good shounen, but it didn't keep me interested so much. Maybe I'm tired of shounens =P

Once I'm in the mood I might go back again, since only 10 episodes isn't enough to judge such an long-running anime.

HOTD really pisses me off

it could have been so good but its just glorified fan service. after the first episode I was like "hell yea, this is gonna rock!". sadly it turned to crap after that...

not sure if anyone actually liked rosario + vampire but that was pretty much the worst anime I have ever seen..

I agree - I'm a pretty hardcore zombie fan and I was stoked when I heard of a new anime series focusing on a zombie apocalypse. Little did I know...

It's more the director than the original material who is at fault here. The original manga have fanservice, guns and girls, alright. But it also had character drama like those zombie apocalypse fictions, a lot more optimistic than the work of Romero. However, Tetsurō Araki, the director have gone all wild with the fanservice. He is a director who need proper script or guidance, also restrain, to make good use of his potential. Death Note was a good Tetsurō Araki series, Kurozuka, HoTD and Guilty Crown are not. They are all stylish, but mostly hit or miss, with lots of miss.

^ I think it also has to do with what sells and nowadays, sadly, fanservice is what sells.

Fanservice HAD always sold. I have watched enough anime to see them. Cutey Honey's naked transformation scenes and Saeko Nogami from City Hunter, Ranma-chan, those are three that got their fair share of scenes done for the service.

This is one of the things people often seem to like to bring up when praising zombie apocalypse fiction. Problem is though...it's a fucking zombie apocalypse. How in the world am I supposed to take this drama seriously when the reason for the deaths of all these people is totally ridiculous?

The best example I can think of is that award winning trailer for Dead Island. I can't do anything but continuously ask myself why it did so because to me it just looks so goddamn stupid.

But yeah, in HSotD's case, the manga is indeed the better choice. Even if I don't like it myself, I can at least admit that.
