There's been PR damage, but it's ridiculous to say it's too late. The consoles aren't even out yet.

The thing stopping me the most now is the price and kinect requirement. I don't want to be spied on, and the 'features' it promotes I don't care for. Getting rid of it would certainly lower the price. But the biggest thing was the shitty drm, so I'm more likely to get one in the future depending on how good of a library it churns out.

I think regardless of the change or not, it would've sold just fine. I was surprised at the amount of Xbox One pre-orders at my store. Seems that people that wanted it just kept their mouths shut to avoid ridicule and hate from people.

It looks like Microsoft may still have a shoot at this after all. I probably won't consider it anytime soon but at least I don't have to actively discourage anyone who asks me if the console is any good. I honestly don't remember much occasions such as this where a company does a complete 180. Truly one for the school books.

Well HOT damn. Microsoft game division is absolutely terrified about all this stuff that's been happening lately to completely 180 on game trading and DRM like this.

While I'm still not going to get one, this is good news. If the XBone did implode completely then Sony would really be the only one left standing and they'd get lazy. If this hurts Microsoft enough for them to know better going forward while still leaving them as a competitor that's fine.

Let's just hope they don't pull a 180 on their policies after they get some consoles sold. And yeah, the Kinect always connected is still creepy.

Great news for gamers. Honestly, the region lock 180 was the bigger shock to me. I knew MS had to backtrack, but this was a complete reversal.

It seems that due to the policy changes they have scrapped Family Share and maybe even other unknown features.

The XBox One still requires that when you first boot it up you're connected to the internet to release the lock. So those outside the 21 supported Countries shouldn't bother trying to import a XBox One as it will not work for you due to that requirement.

Just another way to prove how great competition is. A lot of damage has already been done, but at least the race will be somewhat closer.

Eh, the lack of RPGs/Strategy games on the 360 compared to the much larger library on the PS3/PSP/DS for that department has convinced me that the XBox One isn't going to be a system that caters to my interest. That and nearly all the Japanese games I imported were on the PS3 and PSP and the DS SRW games.

So my mind isn't changed over this as I was never the type of consumer they even wanted in the first place.

My brother in the military should at least get his Halo in now. I'll have to unlock the XBox One for him if he's unable to before being sent overseas.

Good first step. Now they need to start firing folks.

Picking a Gundam over a Princess is not a bad idea, Princess+singing can get you killed

So Xbox 180 is trending on Twitter.

Well I think we now have a new nickname.

Btw notice that the 1 is actually better than the 360 now. The same set of restrictions apply except region locking which is good news if we get more stuff like the original idolm@ster. (yeah, I know that there's a better chance of hell freezing over but it's still something worth pointing out)

There will be strings attached to the policy on Xbone, one way or the other.

Proxy server or a VPN with an exit point in one of the supported countries. Done and done.

If they sell it as not requiring the check-in, not barring used games, etc., and then reverse it once it's out... I can only imagine the millions of lawsuits they'll be slammed with.

I don't quite understand the startup internet requirement, what does it accomplish?

It still needs an internet connection once. So it's not really an offline console.
