I'm still following this thread exclusively and trying my hardest to avoid spoilers. I just forgot to post this week lol. I don't have much to say about the latest episode anyway. I found it a bit underwhelming compared to the last couple episodes. That might just have been the most slow-paced episode of the series so far. Quite surprising to have an episode like this so late into the series (only two eps left... not sure that's enough time to wrap everything up).

I'm not sure that's true. This thread actually got a bit more activity than the pre-airing thread after the split (6 pages there, 8 here edit: 9 now!). It still sucks to have the community split, so I too hope this doesn't become a standard, or that Nico at least streams their episodes in semi-decent quality. Even the stuff I watched ten years ago looked better.

I personally normally don't give a crap about visual quality, but the preairing streams reminds me a wee bit too much of the early 2000 fansubbing scene. Not to mention the scenery porn in this series is practically wasted at that resolution.

As for the show itself, this episode didn't really tell us anything important. From Himegami potentially being Izumiko's future self, to the Mayura vs Wamiya look-alike battle, I can't help shake the feeling of "tell me something I didn't expect".

I find that this show makes for a much easier viewing experience if you don't question some of the weirder character/plot elements, and just roll with everything.
That's pretty much how I roll too but the nagging feeling that I know I would enjoy this show a lot more if they wouldn't burn through material so quickly can be strong sometimes. It seems the Souda triplets bared the brunt of it though since I don't have this problem with Izumiko and Miyuko. Although it does seem to affect them a little: Izumiko went from crying her eyes out because she caused Miyuki so much distress to being jealous thinking he had a fun time with Himegami, all in just a day. No wonder Myuki was able to compare her so easily to someone as unsettling as Himegami.

I guess even though he is a fake. His imagery and personality is still close to them.
Even if he was a fake, this fake was with them with their whole lives ever since the real one died as a kid/baby(?). And keeping him on their side doesn't hurt them at all.

And "Masumi" has no ill will towards them. Answering their call lets him play in the outside world which is all he wants really. To escape that prison. So he more than welcomes the recess and fresh air.

The end of episode 11 was pretty intense. Izumiko revealed her true powers while trying to break free from Takayanagi's mind control. Now they know she is world heritage material and she fears they're going to turn her against a guinea pig therefore... she will inadvertently destroy humanity first?! (she's panicking a lot) There's no more doubt she's the Himegami now. If she could come down a bit she could realize she has other options. I guess it's going to be Miyuki's job to save the day.

That's because the anime adaptation is ending at the end of volume 5 of the novel, and leaving volume 6 out. Unfortunately, Izumiko is the kind of MC that only gets a spine at the very end (Madoka anyone?), so we probably won't get to see that....

It's good to see plotlines converge in this episode, and in a pretty dramatic and intense way. This episode also makes Takayanagi seem a bit more effective and threatening. My take is that he's not that good at head-to-head combat, but he has the mind of a sly politician and his sorcerer abilities are highly useful and potent in some ways.

Izumiko continues to be cute, and the visuals are always a treat. Some elements of the story are compelling.

It's certainly not the best P.A. Works show I've seen, but if they do a decent job with the conclusion, I'll probably put it ahead of Another at least.

I was thinking it was a really bad timing for the Souda sister to decide to make that kind of issue but thankfully it didn't actually dominate the episode much thereafter. Izumiko's anger was amazing. Takayanagi has really done it this time. I hope he gets his face smashed in.

The last scene is easily my favorite of the anime. Does someone know the song which plays during it?

Man oh man. It was extremely satisfying to see Izumiko go HAM like that and see the rage in her eyes. That was probably the first time she was like, "Nah, fuck that bruh." Even if it was just for a brief moment, I'm still happy.

And I wonder what Sagara's answer to Mayura's proposal was. ;P

The final episode didn't provide a satisfying conclusion, or any kind of conclusion at all. Pretty disappointing. That's because they've left out the last volume of the novel. Hopefully, they will adapt it into a movie or OVAs. It would be a shame to leave it at that.

Disappointed in this series overall. I expected a lot better. I feel it should have been a two cour show, they tried to cram too much content into 12 episodes. The pace was sometimes so fast it was hard to follow. At least there was no time to get bored.

I've got my "rejection of Mayura", "rejection of Masumi" and the "handholding + shoulder pillow" scenes. That's enough for me to consider this a win, and that's all I really care about. XD

I mean sure, they left the Himegami plot line open, but from here on I can hazard a guess on how everything will turn out. While I won't say no to an extension of the series, be it OVA or movie, I'm satisfied with how they ended things here.

A quiet series that didn't compel me to discuss it much, but nonetheless I rank it high among my favorites for this season. A beautiful lyrical show that was a treat to watch. I hope Funi's streaming numbers were good enough to warrant a home video release. I would very much like to own this one.

Suzuhara... was waiting for her to change, but nothing.
Masumi was being selfish..
Sagara was the true hero of this anime.
He did all the heavy lifting.
The ending was nice.
Not gonna miss this anime much.

I like this series overall, it was fun and refreshing. Even though it was kinda fast and crammed, I like how it ended.

I largely agree. I think this final episode would work reasonably well as a season finale, but not as a series finale. There's just too many open questions still out there. So I'm hoping for a sequel, or at least a couple OVAs to finish things off.

I will say, though, that Izumiko and Sagara both grew by leaps and bounds throughout the series, and I really liked them here in the finale. Their romance now resonates with me, and Sagara went from a character that I could barely stand to a character that I started cheering for.

The Souda triplets continue to be an utter enigma to me, though I do find them likable enough, and Mayura was very cute.

The action scenes and visuals in the final episode were great. Takayanagi as a dog was hilarious.

However, romance aside, this was a pretty anti-climatic finale. Masumi is like a completely broke man's Loki. He does not - I repeat NOT - work as the final antagonist, lol.

If ever there was an one cour anime that really would have benefited from being two cour, this was it.

Well, yes, that's not really an ending of any kind there. I felt it could have done with maybe one more episode to wrap things up a bit more distinctly. I did like it though.

Dog Takayanagi was quite marvellous, and I loved the parade of ghosts and the way people seemed to be standing around going "Oh look, ghosts of people who died in a battle. Cool!"

I have to agree that the best part of the show was watching both Izumiko and Sagara grow as characters throughout the series. Subtle but steady character development like that works for me.

All in all I've often felt that I might have appreciated this show more had I a better knowledge of Japanese mythology, as I think there were aspects which would have meant more than they did.

Finally, that Itou Masumi ED song was always a delight to listen to.

Takayanagi should've stayed as a dog lol.

And that end...I don't even know if you could call it an end. Eh, alright series. Would've definitely been better off if it was a 2-cour.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but does anyone knows what's the song title for Suzuhara Izumiko's dance?
