guys you assume the colossal titans are our allies. But are we sure they are not part of the prison?? After all the walls are quite long so there must be really a lot of titans, so many that i think it is weird they surrendered. SO in case humans rebel, they awaken the colossal titans to annihilate them. Someone knows how long are the 3 walls together? I'd say there are thousands if not more of titans in the walls. If they really surrendered with a such big army then that means that there is something even worse then colossal titans.

It's possible, but I based on my assumption on that Bertolt's Colossal Titan looked just like the Wall Titans, and I don't believe Ymir's group is our enemy.

You are absolutely correct about some other weapons or means in which the Colossal Army surrendered to. What did the ape-Titans do to make us give up 50 meter tall Titans? Or maybe there was some inherent weakness to our Titans? Like, maybe there's a limited of time in which a person can become one before dying or going berserk/mindless? Maybe they only last for a short time like an Eva? Or maybe something as dumb as the ape-Titans simply scared the shit out of the "King" and he ordered the surrender w/o allowing them to fight?

I have a feeling this is the key to the next arc of the story. How did the Wall Titan get there and why?

I certainly hope the creator of the series is a creative as some of the theories posted here! Because some of this stuff sounds freakin awesome and after thinking about it all wouldn't it be a bummer if the real story is much more basic and boring?

haha

In the images thread, somebody is looking at a certain promo image for the series and wondering why it's Bertholt...

Watch me as i run in and steal him xD Just kidding, i dont even live in japan.

Curious though... of all Attack on Titan characters... why Bertholt? I think he was only 14th in the character popularity poll. It would make more sense to have Levi or Mikasa there.
It's got to actually be an in-joke display card because he's the giant Titan, hasn't it? There's a pic of the Colossal Titan right to the left of his shoulder. Poor Bert, he's secretly the mascot of the series, so unspoiled people would have to wonder what he was doing by that display.

I thought it was because he looked the most like a stereotypical Japanese salesman, but it could just be the apron thing.

Man that would be kinda sad, but I'll be alright if that's the case. It's fun just to speculate. But I have a good feeling about this show - the author is pretty meticulous and some of the clue are just staring you at your face. Iise's Diary for example. Ymir-sama? Really? The whole point of that chapter is "Hey, Ymir's is not who u think she is and she's probably fucking old and like, important and shit".

It's almost like Iseyama's saying "come on guys, figure this out! Please!

Which brings me to another point I was pondering - Why is Ymir, the obvious leader of this rag-tag gang of immortals, spend most of her time FLIRTING WITH A LOLI? Aside from her fetishes, I think the answer is obviously Christa/Historia's family must holds important secret about the truth which she wants to get her hands on, and she plans to infiltrate her family using da Goddess. Related to the reason of the Intelligent Titan Army's downfall? Secret Weapons hidden by the Monarchy cus they don't want to rise up against our Ape-Titan overlords? Keys to Moar Colossal Titans? There must be a good reason why we had to read all that back story about how Historia is now super-close with Ymir-sama.

Edit: 2 more things I wanted to write down:

1. Upon re-watching, the actions of Annie/Reiner/Bert while pretending as part of 104 largely matches with my theory that they are actually veterans trying to teach these kids as much as possible without spilling the beans.

2. The constant image of pomegranate and blood cell is probably hinting the source of Titan power - BLOOD. The virus transform the human blood into Titan body mass. The mindless Titans are those whose entire blood supply has been transformed into Titan-body and there's no return. The intelligent Titans probably has an artificial limit to the amount of blood being used for Titan activity, thus limiting their life span as a Titan. The larger you are, much less time you can spend as a Titan since the amount of extra blood you can spare w/o dying is limited in each human being. This also means just like after you give blood, you have to wait for your body to replenish the lost blood cells before u can become Titan again. Side effect of the Titan virus is that the self-healing properties of white blood cell is amplified, allowing a Titan to regenerate anything on their body. The reason the colossal Titans are skinless is that all the blood supply is used for the bone and muscle and skin generation is a waste of the limited resource.

To become a Titan, an infected human has to release the blood from the body (via biting or needle-ring) in conjunction with some mental condition. Exact detail of how this works - I have no idea. But I do think blood is the key to Titan transformation process. No idea why nape of the neck is the weakness though. Blood is not made there and there's only an artery supplying blood to the scalp and the muscle in the area. Probably just a convenient location to put the human pilot in.

Edit 3: Mikasa maybe the result of genetic engineering to produce a super-soldier capable of killing Titans w/o resorting to the Titan virus and be limited by its short-comings. He injected Eren only because he lost his wife and went kinda insane with revenge, not allowing more time for his research (Mikasa) to reach her potential. I think we can safely say that an army filled with Mikasa-class fighters probably has a chance against a horde of mindless Titans.

I just have a question: At the end of the Trost arc, when they were using Eren to stopper the hole, why was the big-ass rock there already? Was it there because they were actually planning to use it on situations like that?

That seems to be the case. The way I understood it, that rock was placed there for that very purpose, but then nobody came up with a plan on how to actually move it to the gate while under attack from titans.

So about this whole
"was forced to sail to a new world" thing.
Is it exactly translated like that? Or is it more specific?

Because the phrase new world would not apply to old earth. There would be no place to call new world, not in these words.
As I know mankind and the timeframe of 2000 Years, the only phrase that comes to my mind in regards to Earth is: "dying (earth)"

So we must talk about the propability of "sailing" to a new Planet. Thats the only Scenario, where I can think, that the Phrase "sailing to a new World" would make sense.
Did you see the Landscape and the Scale? Where should and could this uncultivated, virgin and structure-barren land be? There are no ruins, no structures, not anything from an earth 2000 years into the future.

this couldnt be undone in a 100 Years, except the Titans had a strong urge to play demolitioner and gardener.

The Americas were called the "New World".

If the start of Titan attack was more than a 100 years ago, then I would say this theory could make sense. However, it was only 100 years ago - 100 years of interstellar travel will not get you very far unless some sort of worm-hole is used.

UNLESS the 100 years time frame is all made up.... that Titans has been attacking humans a lot longer than that. It's possible, giving the amount of total bullshit this monarchy has been feeding the remaining mankind.

I'm still leaning toward it's another place on Earth rather than another planet atm.

Maybe a new world in the meaning they got through a very large river / sea to escape the titans .
kinda like Licia troisi elf's island who was reached only after days of dragon's flyng (if i remember well) over the river.

Yeah but where to? There is no farmable Land anywhere to be a "New World" Not now, and certainly not in 2000 Years, except mankind was in a state of decay before the titans appeared.

well, from what i have seen from last anime episode it seems like titan's blood or something like that can bring nourishment to the earth and have flowers appears(though it is not explicit but to me it seemed like hulk in the arena when he was a slave). So maybe it is not that they ran away from titans. But they were the one who made the titans to make sure plants could continue to grow and that is why they used the colossal titans to make walls. So all the things inside could grow and at the same time they are protected from the stray titans whose work is to bring back the world to life .(Wall-E anyone? xD) But something has gone wrong or the king decided that he wants to keep the power. Sorry i can't formulate well my thoughts but have never been good in writing in english since this is not my main language .

Are you sure, thats what the Scene was about?

I got the impression, that Armin was impressed, that the Flower (and so Armin and Misaka too) SURVIVED in the inner radius, despite the heat coming from the titan. Remember, the Titans are super hot

You should also put into consideration, that there are three walls and they all are quite long. It have to be a bunch of colossal titans to make all of this. I quess, it's because of the king they put up a fight with titans. Why the colossal titans though were on their side or may be not is still unclear.

I have a weird feeling that the Jean filler will include some scenes from chapter 18 but moved around and remove the foreshadowing on Annie.

I hope that it won't come true though

My instinct said, snk world is like claymore world, where this is actually a laboratorium of titan experiment and there are bigger world in outside.

well at least from the new chapter we did find that Ymir is really old, so it's possible she's immortal as I have speculated. So she did something that was hated by other Titan warriors... I still hoped that she's on humanities side. But it does look like the theory that they are all former soldiers fighting for humanity but was abandoned later probably's not going to hold up.
