I don't know. Cain was asking for his help. And we know Pino can force things on Haruto...

I have no idea what the fuck is going on.

Still, hasn't affected my entertainment value, which is 10/fucking10 for pure enjoyment (a...different score for actual quality), the tension, facial expressions of Akira, her absurdly intense backstory, batshit insanity, Shoko kicking ass, and VALVRAVE TOASTERS; shit's so crazy it actually worked!

Still not taking this seriously, nor am I invested in many characters except probably Shoko and Saki by now, but 2nd season looks even more batshit insane and I can't wait.

Spoiler for Holy shit:

Wow I finished it whole (pat myself shoulder). Whenever I watch it I found it enjoyable for it's stupidity and ridiculousness and after it end I feel like I needlesly wasted 20 minutes of my life.

I hope fall season willl have more good shows so I can just ignore this thing.

Quick question guys. Is this thing worth watching? I've read a bunch of reviews on the series and found them saying this anime is a train-wreck.

I watched the 1st episode and saw some gay vampire shit and immediately dropped the series but since Oreimo and Suisei's ending, I am finding myself out of anime to watch.

So is it worth the time?

if you are dropping an anime based on a single episode then you might not enjoy watching this at all. reading 'so-called reviews' even before watching or before the series ends wouldn't help because the reviewer's prejudice will affect your own enjoyment. if you have time, watch it for yourself. imho, you won't regret it just don't expect too much

Well, it's not because I just watched 1 episode I dropped it. More in the line of "gay shit vampire" that was in the episode. Oh not to mention a crybaby male lead. I kinda got spoiled with SAO, Mahouka, Dai Densetsu etc.. so I'm not too keen in going back to the generic MCs

It is train wreck and from episode one it get worse so much it can be considered interesting. You will get epic twist on the end of every episode that other shows need whole cour, cheesy characters with even more cheesy lines, no consistency and musical episode.

If you want watch it, feel free, it is wasted time, but I can garant, you never saw and probably never see again such thing in your life.

It actually gets better from that point, mind you. The atmosphere is pretty decent for a 2010s sci-fi anime, I loved the cast, the battle scenes are filled with great animation and I could tell the story is good if not perfect, and I didn't find the gays**t vampire as "gay" though I was indifferent with shows that are mainly focused on homosexual relationships, and VVV isn't one of them.

Well how to define train-wreck for VVV?

Surely the story isnt as believable as others, some ideas are out of this world... and there sometimes gaps of consistence, but if you dont takes everything as serious as it is but only as an entertaining space soap opera, VVV is a train-wreck which is HIGHLY ENTERTAINING, which i can only recommend watching. For the first cour it hasnt done things which makes you feel miserable about.

"crybaby male lead" *sarcasm on* Yeah, Haruto is a stupid baby for crying because he believed Shoko died. A real man doesn't cry when people die. Haruto biting L-Elf was also totally gay too. You could see it in their eyes how they enjoyed it. And yes, SAO is one of the best written shows of all time. *sarcasm off*

Sorry, I just wanted to find the logic.

Excuse me, I don't believe I was talking about SAO anime as I have clearly mentioned Mahouka. Furthermore, I never said SAO was one of the best written shows of all time. Quit putting words in my mouth.

And indeed Haruto is the usual archetype of a crybaby questioning life male lead so prevalent in animes.

Anyway, back to the point. So some people concur that VVV is an entertaining anime even though it is horrendous. How does that work?

I think he was using some shows as joke. It's not targeting at you. Maybe SAO's author admits Kirito is the person that he wants to be. Out of 10,000 SAO players, Asuna is 5th most beautiful female players. And, she is obsessed with Kirito. However, Kirito hardly do anything to impress her.

The comparable shows could be Himiko-den, Gulity Crown and Orphen. These shows have A level character design, background art and music. Yet, the story fails the show so hard.

The rating system tells you either you extremely like the show, or you extremely hate the show. The number of people in between is few in comparison.

On Futaba, VVV is thread is full of "this show is kuso" comment. Yet, VVV is the most talked about thread on Futaba.

I find it interesting how every Valvrave poll on nico is evenly divided like that
It wanted to be a polarizing show
It succeeded

It's clearly a show that isn't afraid of offending you.

It getting attention! That all I care since Valvrave to me is best mecha I ever saw. Valvrave need more attention, the more negativity the more publicity.

If you ask me I would say they used the "shootgun-method" for plot twists (using plot twists around every corner with the hope that at least one becomes memorable).

This made the story look very weird... but surprisingly I liked the show as well. I didn't love it, but I liked it.

And joshuafaramir, you can believe me, that if you asked people here whether they hate the "typical boring MC", then I would be the first to completely agree. But because everything else in the show seemed to be good, I could still enjoy it. Also from the preview of the 2nd season it seems that Haruto may change quite a bit...

And about "Yaoi" in the show: THERE IS NOTHING.

These damn yaoi-loving-Fujoshi-fangirls really poison the minds of everyone else. They cause a lot of us to see "yaoi" in ANY SERIES having more than 1 guy in the main cast although that is just a delusion of our brains, but that is another discussion altogether...

Valvrave... this show had so many stupid things and yet had decent amount of good moments. While it was a show with many flaws, especially in the logic department, it was still very enjoyable to watch.

Though this episode had less of those idiotic moment which was nice. Shoko just needs to calm down little bit. The highlight for me in this episode was Akira, fucking lover her now. I usually don't do shipping, but if I had to make pairs, I wish for SakixHaruto and AkiraxShoko :3.

I'm more worry that the future they keep showing us is just there to give a hint and explain stuff, and we won't get to see them for real in next season. The scope suddenly becomes too big for a 24 episodes show. They may not be able to resolve everything properly with 1 cour left.

Still, highly entertaining. I can feel the hype for each week over on 4chan and everyone who watches it on live together . It may not be THAT good, but it does make me feel like 25 minutes well spent every week.

"What is character development?"

And avoid gg if you can.

This is just my opinion, but I think an anime is truly a good one if years from its release, you can go back to it, watch it and still think it is good, and Valvrave is definitively an anime that I'll remember and enjoy for the rest of my life.

It's random to the point of being utterly fun to watch. That's how it works. And it isn't horrendous. I consider it the best this season.

And your "indeed"? It's wrong. Simple as that. He's more like comedy relief than anything else
