Russel Crowe and Emma Watson! Oh my.... The synopsis in the following is for those of you who didn't study your biblical version of the origin story...
"The Biblical Noah suffers visions of an apocalyptic deluge and takes measures to protect his family from the coming flood."

Seems epic, especially since it considers a more "realistic" view of things.

Darren Aronfsky. I am sold, also good timing, I have been craving for something close to the biblical epics of old, like De Mille's Ten Commandments and Samson.

I wonder if they would deliberately keep the flood realistic? And no silly portrayal of getting zebras and aardvarks on the ark. The flood as far as we know is regional, but for the people of limited means back then, it was their whole world that was being destroyed.

Portraying a flood that is NOT like the 2012 disaster film, but instead like the real storms and of tsunami sized mud waves that swallows buildings and people. Pity they wouldn't do that, it would make God look bad.

Oh, Anthony Hopkins to.

Well, watching the clip, aint nothing about that flood looks legit. Unless Noah built the thing over a bunch of geysers. Also, whats wit the flaming sword at the end.

One thing I hope is that Emma Watson's performance in this one will open the door to roles that would eventually lead her to Academy Award/Golden Globe nominations in a few years. After all, Keira Knightley managed to get already nominated when she was 20 and barely 2 years after the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Every decent fantasy story needs a magic weapon.

It's an Angel. There are lots of six-armed Angels in the film.

When I first heard of this film 4 or so years ago, I was really hoping this could be some sort of Jewish Superhero story (which, let's face it, the early parts of the Bible/Torah are filled with). Instead, this seems like a fairly generic action adventure. Still, Aronofsky can create beautiful images, and his directing is often quite good, so I am interested, even if the Hebrew history and most of the religion has been needlessly excised from the production.

I'm not quite sure what Keira Knightley and "Pirates" has to do with Emma Watson and "Noah". I guess both feature pretty English girls on ships...Is that part of a checklist for upcoming actresses in order to be nominated for Awards?

I was hoping the movie would also focus more on the family's experience in the ark, but it looks like the flood will just be near/at the end. And is one of Noah's sons a kid?

Is that just sarcasm or what?

What I meant is that it is about time Emma enters into the category of high profile acting (as an adult character in a very anticipated movie alongside/opposite top class actors, please) before she gets her shot in playing more serious roles later. Keira had her breakthrough in POTC (solid performance alongside Oscar-nominated Johnny Depp) and it eventually led her to top class roles in Pride & Prejudice and Atonement.

Now that Emma will have to make her place as a full-grown adult actress alongside the likes of Crowe, Connelly and Hopkins, anybody would hope it pushes her career to a new level.

It is still hard to match the epic scale of the late 50s and early 60s Hollywood productions. In the days of thousands of extras and massive sets. And big name actors with big name studios.
