It is a troll. Burning up in flames fits her ideal way of dying - gothic fairytale like. So the fire truck is meant for her to feel despair in the very last moment.

Celes as the culprit was obvious.

As for Kitigiri's ???, she is a Super Duper High School Detective. What kind of high school murder mystery would be without a High School Detective.

That seems plausible. It seems to fit Kirigiri. In that case Naegi should not be the super duper high school lucky guy, neither the super duper high school detective, but the super duper high school lawyer instead. After all this show is named after Naegi's arguments.

Umm, is that your theory? Any way to prove it?

Celes execution was hot.
Looks like she got the easy way out. Everyone else suffered slowly, while hers was quick when all she got was getting smashed with a fire truck.

Looks like Sakura has had enough and is going to try to fight Teddie and free everyone (which probably won't work)

Having kept up with the episode 6 discussion thread, this episode was a bit anti-climactic. I don't know that I would have properly guessed the culprit on my own, though.

I appreciate that they're throwing in bits and pieces of information beyond the "game" of getting away with murder.

What I REALLY don't understand about this episode is how everyone said that yamada was dead when they first found him, talking about monokuma's death announcment and arguing over yamada's glasses, although he was giving his last word the second time he was found and that fact that he was still muttering something before he really died was even used as evidence! Did all of them have amnesia or something? When someone says something, he must be definitly alive at that point, so how come everyone agreed that he was already dead at the first discover of his so-called "corpse"? This is the first real "plothole" I could find in this adaption. I don't know the original game, so does someone know if it was the same way there?

This was a good episode. The case and investigation aspects weren't really has conclusive and satisfying due to the mixture of the two being in a single episode. So Celes or Taeko was the mastermind behind this one. No surprise because of the way she presented herself during the whole case, and if people remember in episode 4 she pretty much shown that she can be manipulative and condescending " hint hint Yamada". I don't know whether to call her greedy or a bitch, but it sucks that she's gone because I really liked her. It's amazing and sad what people will do for money. The end justified the means, and the execution wasn't as cringe worthy, but the being plowed by a truck during it, all I can say is "ouch".

The main thing that got me intrigued in the whole episode was that note that said "You must not leave this place" why? Is that a red herring that the Puppetmaster left behind or a warning that someone left behind? Who knows, but whoever attacked Makoto in that room pretty much didn't want him to know anymore, so makes me think that Monokuma has a secret collaborator of sorts...someone whom we don't know yet.

Spoiler for Possible Turning Point:

now we have a mysterious person appearing, possible 16th student?
that last part with Sakura and Monokuma is not going to end well.
Think you will die a beautiful death like joan d'arc?
Too bad it's me, monokuma.

Though seriously, who saw it coming that Sakura chan also drinks tea instead of protein coffee?

Just had a quick look around the Internet for other discussions, apparently so many of the western viewers have never heard of doraemon before

Sakura was drinking tea with Aoi early in the series.

Well, it couldn't be the shaman, because it was too obvious. And she was the only one of the rest who was special. She even had an alibi. It had to be her. (Unlike the one with the trap, where it could have been anyone.)

This series has some really bad pacing. I'd recommend playing the game to expand upon the cases and get a lot more out of them. There's a nice patch for a fully translated version too.

It's obvious from the get go that this series will be really really compressed since they would have to fit everything into just 13 episodes.

Personally I think it's more fun just to see how they are able to get across the vital parts nicely. The previous episode showed how well they can do it with a few more minutes of time available. But yes, the game is highly recommended, been playing alongside the episodes after they air for the past 7 weeks.

Sad to see Celes go, but I'm glad we finally have an actual cold-blooded murderer who was seriously playing the game and playing it to win. That was good to see after two murders of passion that really had more to do with the unbalanced psyches of the killers rather than any serious attempt to win the game.

Celes' overall scheme was also a good one, and she played it out beautifully. I particularly liked her brief attempt to smooth-talk Kirigiri early on in the episode. Celes' gamble obviously lost, but it was a very believable and well-executed gamble.

On the flip-side, I hope that slips of the tongue aren't going to be the main method of determining guilt in this show. It's already a bit much, and if it's used any more it'll definitely be a case of overuse.

On the whole, I found this episode very entertaining, with good bits of intrigue and a lot of nice emotional moments.

I find that I prefer the court episodes to the killing episodes. The dialogue in the court episodes tend to be much more interesting, imo, with greater interpersonal character dynamics at play and the occasional battle of wits.

Well, Celes had actually much more evidences against her aside of the slip of tongue than Mondo had, but alas, the anime capitalized everything on it. Byakuya was supposed to corner her with her suspicious actions thorough the day.
It was rather a silly decision, when you take into account the difficulty of this case being extremely low to begin with.

This was a splendid episode.
I enjoyed it quite much, but looking at how many people are dead, I wonder what the rest of the episodes (5 of them) will give us.
I guess things will be a bit stretched now.
