For a moment there I thought the little kimono girl was vaporized by the explosion.

I was wondering about that as well, actually.

For a serious second there, I thought we were going into some serious Red Wedding level territory

Oooh, think I just figured something out actually. What if the reason Koto's hammer can destroy things for good isn't because of some special property but because that was the tool Koto used to break into Mirror Kyoto? Heck that could have been a hint all along of how she got in/what she was going to do, I think there's a lot of poetry that she's the child of the two people who (debatably at this point) created the city and yet all she can do is destroy it it seems.

I"m starting to think that she's the child of two gods: Inari(for obvious reasons, if you know your Japanese mythology) and that Big Koto is some kind of Buddha.

Well considering they said that in the episode itself, "you're the child of a god and a buddha" you would be spot on. XD (although I think they meant that Inari was a, hmm, "generic kami", since god in Japanese sometimes means different things than what god in English does, and Inari/the Fox Mask was a position he was given, not who he actually is [until further proven])

Didn't we already know that Lady Koto was a Bodishvhatta?

Wait a sec ... I thought there were three Koto: the Bodishvhatta, the black rabbit and then the hammer wielding child of Inari and the black rabbit and lead chara of the series?

Hold up. I thought Big Koto was actually the black bunny until Inari did something to her to make her human?

There are only two:

The first Koto was a black rabbit that Inari drew. Then a Bodhisattva (a real one, not a drawing) lent the black rabbit her body. That's how the black rabbit became Lady Koto.

The second Koto is the MC.

So Inari reveals his true colors... well mostly, I'm still not entirely sure what his end game is. Was it his plan all along to have Myoue be the beginning? For what purpose? To perhaps give meaning to Yakushimaru's immortal life. This is the big question I hope to have answered.

Other than that, an excellent penultimate episode. I loved the insert song. And the emotional resonance it provides is excellent as usual.

the only thing that I can say is that Inari want to create 14th world in order to replace "broken" 13th world. but since he transfer power of creation to Yakushimaru. only he can. instead he just go ahead and tell him to do it. I guess it just more dramatic to do it this way

I found this at MAL regarding Inari's intentions and thought it was interesting...

"Inari is not the bad guy. Think of this show on an individual basis (Myoue). Inari is still trying to save Myoue. Though he "saved" him by replacing his heart, as the last episode showed, Myoue still rejected this second chance at life; Inari created a brother and sister for Myoue, but Myoue never accepted their love, and instead selfishly shut himself off from everyone. Still trying to save Myoue, Inari gave over his ability to create, hoping that Myoue would use it to reincarnate himself, but Myoue, still denying life refused to, creating the stasis of the Capital. This is why everyone was tired, the monk brother, Inari, they kept trying to save Myoue, but the simple fact is that unless someone wants to live nothing you can do can save them.

Inari's last gambit was to use Koto to destroy the universe, what good is the world if people can't be saved (not only is this a buddhist thought, but it is also in the Kabblah and Christian gnosticism)? This is what Inari meant when he told Bunny Koto that he would explain later: Inari knows exactly what he is doing: everything was done to get Myoue to use the power to create a new universe, one where Myoue would want to live. So far from Inari being selfish, he is actually willing to sacrifice everything, including himself, to save Myoue."

It's interesting, but I don't necessarily agree with the idea that Myoue is the one being selfish here. He never asked to become immortal, and from what we've seen, he loved his real family. That doesn't mean he didn't accept the love of his substitute family though. It's clear from the flashbacks and the way he acts that he does care for them. But he carries some resentment, and that's justified in my view.

Yeah, that's the only thing I disagreed with too. The idea of what Inari is trying to do though still looks plausible.

When Yase started fading I felt a little tug in my chest, then Koto found the coat that Myoue's girlfriend had with her and stopped dead in her tracks, then the dog disappeared and I felt really, really sad. ;___;

So Koto was born naturally after all, which to Inari was abnormal since it was the first time he had created a life without using his power of creation. I was really confused when he stabbed Koto and ordered her to destroy everything, but his talk with Yakushimaru and then Yakushimaru's talk with his siblings made it clear he's doing this to help Yakushimaru become the new Myoue (he was Myoue in name only until now).
