ED is out. I usually prefer OPs to EDs, but I love this one. All hail the new Persona!

The 3 Kishi shows this year all have great catchy songs as either OP or ED. Not to mention this time it's livetune.

but yes, it's yet to be seen whether this show is out of his league. I do think Arpeggio turned out rather good considering the circumstances (12 eps restriction, too many incomplete story arcs in manga which resulted in messy narrative). He may not have the ability to turn rushed works into magic, but when he's given ample time to work with he does great things. Still think the end of ep10 Arpeggio is one of the more memorable moments this season..

anyway, back to topic. After 3 PVs I still can't really grasp the tone of this series so far. The weaker drawings notwithstanding, the scenes they had shown us seem to be rather messy. I guess, as usual, it's better to watch ep1 first before making any comments as PVs can sometimes not be doing the series justice. Speaking of justice, I wonder how the "writer of Phoenix Wright" can affect this series. I do remember PW being full of brilliant campy humour (which would suit well with Kishi btw), but this series seems to be aiming more on the serious side of things.

At first I was like I don't know who this Kishi person is, but he did Arpeggio? I rather liked Arpeggio, and I like the look of this, and I like livetune so I'll watch.

Arpeggio is the best show Kishi's done since Kamisama Dolls, which is in turn the best show he did since Seto no Hanayome.
Most of the shows he's directed are very bad... I would warn you that this could easily go the same way.

The animation looks interesting.
Character appearances are to my liking.
There is too much jumping from frame to frame.
It's annoying and also confusing at times.
The case itself was really good and very interesting.
Impressive. Think I'm gonna watch this one!

A pretty good first episode. Unique characters, erm, that's all I can say really haha, I didn't really have any problems with this episode

I have to say I enjoyed the show more than I was expecting to. It was a little messy at times but the ep came together pretty well and the characters seem like they could be interesting enough. For I think we can give Kishi the benefit of the doubt until the show does something noticeably wrong.

Overall I'd say it had a good first episode. Somewhat setting up the world itself and giving a general introduction to the main characters. Putting together a group of unusual people (in a variety of senses) for a common goal. Should be a fun little detective agency.

So far I like how they are handling the abilities as well. It's nice that they aren't just abilities that can be thrown on at a whim, but generally need some sort of trigger to use. Knowing the triggers it's not that hard for them to keep something like that on them, but does make them normal if they don't have access to it. Won't be that hard to keep that thug in jail though the prison might have to be a lot more strict on people smuggling in gum than ever before .

My condolences to Hajime though...the shock when hamburgers don't start raining down from the sky will be extreme .

I really enjoyed this episode, like JetZero Infinity mentioned, it's like Durarara meets Darker than Black, and since I enjoyed both shows that works for me. I thought the way all the cases were intertwined was interesting and our cast of characters colorful. I laughed harder than I probably should have at that opening scene. How oblivious can you be?! I'm certainly looking forward to the next episode.

Hmm. I was thinking this was stylistically kind of a cross between Durarara and Darker than Black too, I see I wasn't the only one.

I didn't dislike it, but it didn't really grab me either. That said, I'll give it a few more episodes to see how it goes once we get more of a handle on the setting and characters.

Yeah. Well. Not bad, but not earthshaking either, I guess.

But I will give the next few eps a try, probably.

Seems like a much lighter Darker than Black.
Curious about seeing the full range of powers, but not sure there's enough to actually keep me watching. Nothing bad to complain about, but nothing good to write about either for me.

Yea, me too. It's a complicated feeling.

The action was fun, but I thought the mystery was dumb as hell, and quite rushed. And seriously, wtf at that reaction from the dude's heir upon hearing about his sex life.

Do you want to know about your parents sex life? Especially if they've been keeping you from experiencing things for yourself as he appears to mention. I mean I know my parents have sex, I'm here right? But I don't want to know all the dirty little details.

His reaction was over the top. But I wouldn't want to learn that my father had multiple college-age lovers either.

You've read my mind. Kinda funny since the director of DtB is also doing a show this season; it's going to be interesting compare this to that.
