Sonic Boom (2014 - Sonic the Hedgehog CG Cartoon)

Quote:
Sonic the Hedgehog, the iconic video game character who has brought his trademark speed and attitude to four TV series and more than 70 video games, is returning to television in his first-ever CG animated series in the fall 2014. The action packed comedy series aimed at children 6-11 will debut first on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and on CANAL J and GULLI in France, with a global rollout to follow. The initial order of 52 eleven-minute episodes is co-produced by SEGA of America Inc. and Genao Productions.

Sonic Boom is a character-driven comedy that leaves a trail of robot wreckage in its smoldering wake. The series centers on Sonic, his best friend and sidekick, Tails, their never-ending search for adventure, and their battles with Sonic’s arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman. Rounding out the ensemble are fan favorites Knuckles and Amy Rose, plus a rogue’s gallery of enemies—some familiar to Sonic fans and some brand-new.

Honestly... not sure what to think of this... CG? Comedy? Giant Black Man Knuckles?

Haha, I can't help but be excited for this. I think I'll check out a few episodes. I'm fine with CG, though each episode being only 11 minutes sounds pretty weak.

I think the 11 minute running time is actually a pretty normal thing lately for cartoons. I know Adventure Time's episodes are only that long and those air on a weekly basis.

Anyway, it's not a new thing for the Sonic franchise to get an animated series, but I dunno how I feel about this one in particular considering the target audience. Lol at Knuckles' redesign for this though.

I also wonder if the voice actors for the games like Roger Craig Smith and Kate Higgins will be returning for this show. Seems likely.~

Well... just makes me wonder what'll happen if the show does REALLY well... would SEGA consider making a game/series for it, and how would they handle that?

Well.... we actually got 2 reveal trailers, but we'll use this topic to talk about the cartoon...

Looking at the trailer... it's obvious that Sonic's voice actor is still there.... but... it's been awhile... did they change Tails' VA?

I'm not feeling Sonic's current VA.

My favorite would always be this guy.

Obnoxious Urkel was the really old original Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon. White completely changed it for the SatAM one.

Sega got Rob Liedfeld to do Knuckles design???

So far Sonic and Tails seem unchanged.

Aside from Sonic having blue arms, and everyone in the main cast apparently taking up the practice of spatting .

So.... no story arcs, just episode to episode plots.

...great. I get the idea of not having any big arcs and just keeping it episodic so people can just jump in at any point. But at the same time it takes away the reason to actually keep watching if nothing really carries on. Oh well, decision made.

Sooo... I guess we haven't escaped the endless Sonic friends syndrome...

Quote:
Sticks, a wild jungle badger with a boomerang, is the newest addition to Sonic Boom.

SEGA announced today that the brand-new female character will join Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy in Sonic Boom, which was revealed earlier this year as a fresh branch of the Sonic franchise, spanning a TV series, Wii U and 3DS game, as well as a toy line. Sticks is part of the core ensemble of Sonic Boom, with Amy being her best friend.

Sticks is a significant addition to the Sonic Boom universe and the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise,” said Hiroyuki Miyazaki, chief content officer for the Sonic brand at SEGA of America. “She brings a quirky personality and perspective to the team dynamic, and we look forward to sharing this energetic and funny new character with the world.

... kinda reminds me of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger.... not that anyone remembers him.

Why does it seem that they're giving Eggman the best lines?

Because Eggman always gets the best lines .

Though I admit, Sonic's "The plan had holes" gave me a good laugh .

Eggman on a Hoverboard/Extreme Gear was... interesting .

I can't tell if they're trying to make Knuckles a general dumb muscle or if he's going to be as "out there" as Sticks is .

I'm still not a fan of how they depict Sonic's homing attack on the show .
