VGA upgrade suggestions

So I'm wondering if I should get an upgrade for my VGA.

I'm currently running a HD 5770, with Phenom II X4 945 processor on a MSi-790FX-GD70 MoBo. Mostly used for gaming and it can still run everything fine as long as I stick with medium or low settings, but I would like to be informed of my options.

My budget for this is about $165, so I'm wondering what would be my best option for performance and staying power within the next couple of months in that price bracket, or if I should bother at all. It doesn't have to be ATI (and from what I gather, NVidia seems to be the better option within that price bracket), but I'm also wondering whether there will be problems with the rig if I use NVidia because I'm only changing the VGA.

Any enlightenment about this will be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Been using Powercolor's HD7750 with 1gb of memory and a 128-bit bandwidth. Packs a real Sunday punch for Black Ops 2 at a decent price, doesn't require an extra power connector. If you can afford it, go for GDDR5 memory, it's faster than GDDR3; need more cooling? Sapphire has their own models with a bigger heatsink (this requires an extra empty slot, however).

Yes, for some reason I feel that since my CPU is an Athlon II X2, it works well with that GPU, thanks to some power-control features implemented with Catalyst 13.9.

However, if you feel that nVidias will do good in, say, Skyrim, then either it's ASUS' GT630 or if you want more, they also have the GTX650 (doesn't need an extra power connector), which puts it on par with the HD7750.

I assume that whatever you get will have no problems with your current power supply, yes?

As for specifics, I have used the exact same ati card (though made by xfx) sa547 recommended and have had no problems with anything. From whatreviews I have read people have mentioned it is a decent bang for your buck purchase, and ifyou already have ati drivers installlled and all....

well this serves as my reference. we have the same processor and planning to upgrade the video card above requirement for the games. maybe inno3d gt630 4gb sddr3 128bit!

you can also upgrade your psu if you choose ddr3 128bit but ddr5 128bit is more expensive.

PSU is of no problem (I hope). I upgraded to 1000W (or was it 850? I can't remember) a few months earlier.

BTW I see that HD 7750 and HD 7770 is very close in price and is still within my budget. Is there any reason not to choose 7770?
